Carnivorous Fly loooks wellmade overall, but i feel the difference in mapper's styles conflict at times, where some have rly cool shapes and stuff, while others not so much. mianly aesthetics tho
In Dalmatian Seal, 00:54:662 (1,2,3,4) - these gaps kinda felt a little awkward to me. 02:40:600 (1,2,3,4) - This feels a lot better!!
The issue with cohesion is still a little prominent like the other entry, but to a little less extent i feel
Again, both entries were good and i'd say pretty close too so it's hard to choose one especially since they both offer completely different experiences. Im giving the edge to carnivorous fly because i felt their ideas were just slightly more polished than seal's. Either way I liked both entries good job to both teams!!
The concept for Carnivorous Fly is pretty consistent and well done throughout the entire difficulty, it also felt really good seeing many creative patterns that reflected each part of the song properly. Really well done. The rhythms used are also pretty fitting with the song and fit the emphasis nicely.
The hitsounding for this submission (Dalmatian Seal) feels really lacking in some parts, probably due to the default soft-hitclap used to cover the drums, which makes the hitsounding overall rather underwhelming. Also, slowdowns such as 00:42:475 (1) - in the middle of the peak of the song felt underwhelming to me and didn't reflect the song as much as I expected. Besides that, pretty nice difficulty.
Carnivorous Fly for me deserves the win, it felt more complete in every aspect.
No idea, both are very similar imo. I don't really find many big mistakes or bad choices on both entries, although both of them have some really awkward choices for rhythmโฆ like how Dalmatian Seal has arbitrary doubles for no reason besides forced intensity like 00:57:850 (2,3) - and Carnivorous Fly seems to like overmapping bursts for the sake of intensity like 01:48:662 (1,1,1,1) - and rhythms like 02:44:162 (3) - that just goes against the layer the same combo started.
I believe Dalmatian Seal gets the win for having less mistakes overall and doing a better job with contrast and unique ideas of structure as a whole with more diverse rhythms rather than "how many kicksliders can I use".
In Crossed Yak 01:29:350 (1,2,3,4) - this was cute placements felt slightly messy imo in some sections, but again mainly due to differences in skill between mappers some parts of the map feel really different than others.
In Komodo Angelfish, "00:38:725 (1,2,3,4,1) - aaaa stream looked so nice up until this straight line D:
definitely my fav entry overall between all 4 teams. first one where the sections work really well together too! Big well done!!
Komodo Angelfish won this one for me (sorry crossed yak guys, you guys still did a good job!)
Was my favourite entry out of all 4 entries tbh. Great job guys.
As mentioned in my comments earlier, felt like the most cohesive entry so far in the contest and i love the ideas you had with your take on this song!
Pretty cool difficulty overall, even though the thing which would've been nicer is to have the streams not spaced the same way on both kiai and outside kiai, it felt that the difference in contrast wasn't enough due to that. Hitsounding is pretty amazing and patterns are too though.
Really love this entry. Everything about it is just perfect, good rhythm, well done contrast between the sections, hitsounding is on point, really got nothing to say besides that this is great. Great job.
Komodo Angelfish took my heart right away, really solid and amazing entry, even though Crossed Yak was also really nice. It was tough to decide.
Not really sure what to even write here, Komodo angelfish just seems like a better map overall~
Crossed Yak has so many fundamentally bad choices like how 00:06:662 (3,4,5,6,7,8,1) - emphasizes blue ticks on the 1/4 jumps even though the strong sounds are on 1/2s (?) and that happens through the entire map similarly. Or how spacing for 1/4 literally goes yolo like 00:26:162 (3,4,5,6,7) - when a few seconds before it was super small spaced. The kiai at 01:25:600 - was quite interesting but it's too extremely different from the rest of the map and even has very awkward decisions like 01:34:600 (1,2,3,4) - being super different on pacing even though the rest of the kiai is fast paced, etc etc.
Komodo angelfish on the other hand just feels like any other decent map that has cool ideas and executes them consistently, don't have much to say tbh~
