Detailed guide on attending the Node.js collaboration summit in person

The Linux Foundation Events Code of Conduct applies to all event spaces.

Join the #collab-summit-london-2024 Slack channel.

  1. Reception and breakfast starts at 9:00. Sessions start at 9:30.
  2. After you enter the Bloomberg London office building (entrance at the intersection between Queen Victoria Street and Bucklersbury Street, checkout street view of entrance), go to the reception, tell the receptionist that you are here for the Node.js collaboration summit. You will be asked to show your ID and take a photo to get a guest badge.
  3. As a visitor you should be accompanied by a Bloomberg person in places outside the summit area. Someone should be at the reception to fetch you to the summit area (we'll try to arrange a "shuttle" that departs from the reception every 5-10 minutes). If you arrive later than 9:30, ask in the #collab-summit-london-2024 Slack channel.
    • Route (escorted by Bloomberg employee): first take a lift to the 6th floor where the lobby is, then go through a gate that requires an employee badge, then take another lift down to the Windsor room on the 1st floor.
  4. Use the Wifi with SSID bguest and use the username & password on your badge in the popup window to connect.
  5. All bathrooms on the summit venue floor are gender neutral. The bathrooms are adjacent to the event space, not requiring any escort or badging; ask a Bloomberg employee if you need help locating them. The bathrooms are physically accessible.
  6. We will use a queue in Zoom to speak. Folks on the set should join the Zoom call (but muted) in order to raise their hands in the queue. We have hand-held microphones in the Room so the idea is, people in the room who want to speak should use Zoom to raise their hand first, and when it’s their turn, they’ll get the microphone passed to them to speak. Remote participants join the same queue via Zoom, so they get an equal chance to participate.
  7. For each session, we’ll need to find 1-2 volunteers to take notes.

  8. We have a camera capturing the room during the sessions. Session facilitators should sign a form for consent of being captured on camera and allowing Bloomberg to use them (it seems to be a standard thing for hosting an event at Bloomberg’s London office, if anyone has concerns about it, please let me know). For those who want to avoid the camera we can create a spot that doesn't go into the camera.
  9. Lunch break at 12:15-13:45 in an area adjacent to the meeting room. There will be a buffet sponsored by Bloomberg.
  10. If you need to smoke, you'll need to be escorted in and out of the building.
  11. On Wednesday we have a dinner table reserved at The India - Best of the City from 18:30
  12. There are T-shirts with the new Node.js mascot. We plan to distrute them during the breaks.
