# Monimel's Biography

Monimel is a mixed-media artist from Indonesia who began her artistic journey at a young age. She started drawing at five years old and later explored oil painting on canvas at fourteen under the guidance of her father. Monimel has always been fascinated by human interaction as social beings—the expressions and responses people reveal in conversations—which nurtured her love for figurative art since childhood. Yet, as her artistic journey evolved, her curiosity led her toward something more abstract, surreal, and experimental. She began to explore mixed media, incorporating unconventional materials such as candy and praline wrappers, melted wax drips, and even dried tree branches into her works, giving her art a unique and naive character.

However, due to the political situation in her country in 1998, she was unable to formally study art, though she remained engaged in creative activities.

In 2015, she established a souvenir business, which eventually closed during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. By early 2021, she returned to her artistic path through NFTs, where she continues to actively create and share her work.

Deeply involved in the international art community, Monimel leverages her entrepreneurial and organizational experience to support emerging Indonesian artists, serving as a bridge between them and the global art world. One of her notable achievements was co-organizing the Bali Art Space with Metarupa and Tez Town in 2024.

Her artworks often reflect stories of life experiences, childhood memories, and imaginative fantasies drawn from her observations. Growing up as an introvert, Monimel found it difficult to express her personal experiences through words, instead channeling them into her art. While she enjoys working with oil paints, her creative process embraces a wide range of materials, blending unique elements into her compositions. This passion for mixed media was inspired by her father, who was also an artist with a deep love for creativity and innovation.

## As a Community Connection & Builder

In 2021, Monimel began to explore her role as a community builder at IDNFT, an educational NFT community for artists and illustrators. This interest was sparked by her encounter with IDNFT founder, Budi Santosa—an NFT artist and mural business owner based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Under his guidance, Monimel was encouraged to share her knowledge about NFTs with new members of the community, helping them understand the proper ways of creating NFTs and contributing to the growth of Indonesia’s NFT ecosystem, which at that time was still in its early stages of development. Later that year, Monimel met Lily White, the founder of TezTown, and from that moment she began spreading her wings as a connector for Indonesian artists to the global stage under Lily’s supervision. Both Budi Santosa and Lily White have been influential figures, inspiring Monimel’s dedication to both community and art. By early 2022, Monimel expanded her journey into global NFT and blockchain communities beyond Tezos, an experience that further strengthened her path as a community builder, particularly through her active role in the IDNFT Academy event held in mid-2022.

## Become a Tezos Collective Representative in NFT Bali 2024

Tezos Collective is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment for the Tezos community, with the community itself at the center of its mission. In 2024, Tezos Collective had the opportunity to participate in NFT Bali 2024, where representatives in Indonesia were needed to promote Tezos and the Tezos Collective through a talk show and a digital art exhibition at Superlative Gallery, Bali. Monimel took the stage as the event host, representing the community alongside Sarisa Kojima, an NFT artist from Japan.

## Organize Bali Art Space with Metarupa & TezTown 2024

Bali Art Space was founded by a collective of individuals from diverse Web3 communities who share a common vision and purpose, with support from Lily White, Founder of TezTown. Its mission is to introduce Web3 to those who may not yet fully understand it, while showcasing how advancements in blockchain technology can complement and enhance Web2 activities. Beyond bridging the gap between Web2 and Web3 communities, Bali Art Space also serves as a platform for NFT creators to exhibit their work.

## Bali Art Space 2024 Program-Art Exhibition

The first gallery we selected was Superlative Secret Society, located in the vibrant district of Legian–Kuta. With 45 display screens and two large immersive screens, the venue provided excellent facilities to properly showcase more than 400 NFT artworks.

The second venue was TAT (The Ambengan Ten-Ten) Gallery, situated in Denpasar—the central district of Bali with excellent accessibility. While TAT primarily focuses on exhibiting physical artworks from Indonesia and around the world, we introduced a new dimension by displaying 30 NFT works, printed and presented on the gallery’s walls.

At the heart of this initiative was the Tezos Artist Spotlight, one of our core missions. In collaboration with Metarupa, and with the support of both Superlative Secret Society and TAT Art Space, we showcased artist's artworks from the TezTown community worldwide. Running for nearly a month, this exhibition celebrated the creativity and diversity of Tezos artists.

Beyond introducing NFT art on the Tezos blockchain to audiences who were unfamiliar with blockchain and NFTs, the event sparked new interest and brought fresh enthusiasts into the ecosystem. More importantly, it fostered meaningful connections between communities, strengthening the bridge between traditional and digital art spaces.

## Bali Art Space 2024 Program-Talk Show

We shared insights on the implementation of blockchain technology in the future and the advantages of the Tezos blockchain for artists.
The talk show, held at TAT Art Space, featured three speakers and was conducted in both Indonesian and English to accommodate a diverse audience.

## Bali Art Space 2024 Program-Workshops

We organized workshops supported by the community, featuring instructors from the Indonesian arts scene. Through these initiatives, TezTown provides a space for young creatives to learn and develop their artistic skills.
Here are the workshops that we provided:The Sculpt Nomad, Screen Printing, Reusable Plactic Art, Kite and Tote Bag Coloring (For Kids).

## Bali Art Space 2024 Program-Live Painting
In addition to workshops, talk shows, and exhibitions, TezTown organized a Live Painting session featuring over 20 local artists at TAT Art Space from June 30 to July 6, 2024.
The paintings were purchased by Mr. Kinno Thingker, a collector and the owner of TAT Art Space. Proceeds from the sales were partially donated to the GERASA Bali Foundation, while the rest supported TezTown’s real-world events.
“Yayasan Generasi Bisa” is part of the YCAB Foundation, an organization dedicated to empowering young generations and preserving Indonesia’s heritage through education and skill development. The foundation equips youth to become independent, competitive, and entrepreneurial, with a strong emphasis on digital entrepreneurship in the batik industry, one of Indonesia’s most treasured cultural legacies.

The purpose of Beach Day was to bring together the Tezos family and introduce the Tezos ecosystem to local artists who had never interacted with the community in Bali before. This informal gathering allowed participants to connect, share ideas, and enjoy the stunning beauty of Pandawa Beach.

## Bali Art Space 2024 Program-Guest Lecturer in ISI Bali University
One of the main goals of this event was to introduce blockchain technology to students and the broader community. As part of this mission, our team visited ISI Denpasar, one of Bali’s largest art universities, where we received a warm welcome from the Animation Study Program. We are proud that our presence contributed to raising awareness and sparking curiosity among animation students about blockchain technology. Their enthusiasm and eagerness to explore this new field were truly inspiring, further strengthening our commitment to educating and empowering the next generation of artists.

## Bali Art Space 2024 Program-Gift to Local Children
In between her busy schedule, Lily took the time to teach English to underprivileged children in the neighborhood through interactive games. It was a heartfelt gesture of care for the local community while also serving as a cultural exchange. Though the session was brief, the children enthusiastically asked questions and learned about life in the United States, turning it into a fun and meaningful educational experience for everyone involved.

## WEB3 Education Center & WEB3 on Campus for IDNFT

Monimel has frequently promoted NFT technology at various universities across East Java through the WEB3 on Campus program. Her dedication caught the attention of Petra Christian University in early 2025, leading to a collaboration to establish the WEB3 Education Center (WEC)—a training hub and laboratory dedicated to exploring and adopting Web3 technologies, including NFTs.
