# 📚 Fundamentals
## **Purpose**
When playing Valorant, **always** think about *why* you are doing something, **never act purely on instinct or emotion** without a reason.
Every decision you make, no matter how small, should serve a clear goal: *to win the round.*
Ask yourself questions like:
- **"Will this kill an enemy?"**
→ Are you using a skill or taking an action that could realistically get a kill? If not, is it still achieving something important like applying pressure or forcing a reposition?
- **"Is the duel I'm taking beneficial?"**
→ Even if you *can* take a fight, should you? Consider your weapon, your health, your position, and whether the duel benefits your team if you win — and how much it hurts if you lose.
- **"Will I be able to hold this position?"**
→ Before committing to a post-plant spot, anchor, or off-angle, think: *Can I realistically survive here or delay enough time for backup?*
Holding a position you can’t actually defend just feeds the enemy free kills.
- **"If I fail to do X, how will it hurt the team? Is the risk worth it?"**
→ Every move has consequences. If you push mid and die without getting value, is your team now exposed?
- **"What are the safest or best initiatives to take?"**
→ If you feel the team is stuck, don't just "do something random."
Think about controlled aggression (like taking mid control with utility) or gathering safe information first.
- **"If no one is taking the initiative to entry or attack, what’s holding them back?"**
→ Is your team lacking information? Are they scared of an Operator? Is utility like smokes or flashes missing?
Identifying *why* your team is frozen lets you fix it -> either by gathering info, baiting out defensive utility, or leading the entry yourself.
- **"How can I make entering a site easier?"**
→ Use your utilities: clear angles with flashes, block vision with smokes, isolate duels with walls or mollies.
If you’re not an entry fragger, you can still support with utility from behind.
- **"How can I make defending the spike easier?"**
→ Think about post-plant setups.
Do you have mollies to delay defuses? Can you hold a crossfire? Are you playing positions that can be easily cleared, or are you forcing enemies into bad fights?
**Purpose** is about becoming an intentional player.
Every peek, every fight, every utility use, every rotation should serve a clear reason.
*If you can’t explain why you’re doing something, stop and rethink.*
## **Synergy**
You have teammates **use them!**
Valorant is a team-based game for a reason: no single player, no matter how skilled, can win consistently without working with others.
Understand that **your teammates have utilities that you don’t**:
- Ask for **flashes** when you're entrying into a site, don't dry peek into a dangerous angle if you don’t have to.
- Request **smokes** to cut off enemy sightlines, either when taking space or holding it.
- Call for **mollies** or **nade utility** to force enemies out of strong positions or deny them space during retakes and spike defuses.
**Examples of Good Synergy in Action:**
- Peek immediately when Flenn’s turret spots an enemy. Enemies distracted by utility are slower to react, making your fights easier. (Like, a lot)
-
- Spam around where Flenn’s Alarmbot triggers because enemies become vulnerable and easier to kill after it activates. (Inconsistent but useful if the alarmbot is obstructed)
- Cherry uses smokes to create one-way angles or deny enemy vision, letting me and others take safer fights when pushing or retaking. (Haven game)
-
---
**Use utility with purpose:**
- Don't just throw flashes, smokes, or mollies randomly.
- Use them **intentionally** to:
- Force enemies into weak positions
- Cover your team’s movement
- Set up easier fights
- Deny information
- Buy time for rotations
-
-
---
**Never peek alone:**
- Always try to trade or be tradeable.
- If a teammate dies, you should immediately be in a position to punish the enemy who just killed them.
- Double-swing when clearing dangerous angles: two players peeking at once overloads the enemy’s reaction time.
---
**Crossfires Win Rounds:**
- On defense, setting up **crossfires** means no enemy can peek just one player at a time.
- Example:
- If you're holding A-site Haven with a teammate, one player watches short while the other holds long, both able to swing and kill anyone entering either spot.
-
- This way no enemy can ever peek into only 1 defender
- In crossfires, **patience is key**: wait for the enemy to fully commit before both of you swing at once.
---
**"Fair" duels are bad duels:**
- If you peek someone 1v1 with no advantage, it's a coin flip.
- If you peek with a flash, while they're distracted, or with a teammate swinging, it's a **high percentage fight**.
- Always stack every fight in your favor: numbers, timing, utility, positioning.
---
## **Mechanics**
Aim isn’t just about hitting heads, it’s about making sure the enemy dies **before you do.**
**Winning fights is more about consistency and decision-making** than having “godlike” flicks.
---
**Factors that affect a duel:**
- **How close are you peeking?**
→ The closer you are, the faster the fight will happen. Close-range favors fast-reacting players and SMGs/shotguns.
- **How fast are you moving?**
→ Peeking too fast can make your aim unstable. Peeking too slow makes you easier to shoot. Learn when to *jiggle peek*, *wide swing*, or *slow peek* based on the situation.
- **What weapons are you and your enemy using?**
→ Rifles usually beat SMGs at medium to long range. Judge whether your weapon gives you an advantage **before** you fight.
- **What utilities are active during the fight?**
→ Flashes, smokes, mollies, and walls, these can slow reactions, block vision, or force bad positions. Use them to make duels unfair.
- **Is the enemy ready for your peek?**
→ If they know you're coming, they’ll pre-aim you. If not, you can surprise them. Timing and unpredictability are huge advantages.
- **Does the enemy have a teammate ready to trade?**
→ If you kill one enemy but die instantly after, you didn’t actually gain a full advantage. Always peek angles with this in mind.
---
**Most importantly: _Are you consistent?_**
Consistency **matters more** than peak mechanical skill.
You don’t have to hit crazy flicks, in order to win a duel you just need to be reliably faster **most of the time**.
You must constantly evaluate:
- **How fast can I kill them?**
VS
- **How fast can they kill me?**

It is highly recommended that you download and practice with an external aim trainer outside of Valorant’s practice range. (like Aimlabs and KovaaK's)
