# What this document is This document essentially exists to jot down what went on in 2024 and what's going to go on in 2025 for myself and Greenhouse Modding. # 2024 - In Review While 2024 challenged me irl in multiple circumstances, it was probably my best year for modding yet. Thinking about downloads tends to get me down when I see like Apugli as one of my top downloaded mods rather than something of purely my own design like Bovines, but I just gotta ignore these feelings and just hope that something does surpass that. I guess it's just a feeling that I only piggyback off of others when it comes to modding. Now I'll probably talk about each of the major events of 2024. ## Dropping Origins Okay, so I think I really want to get into detail of why I'm choosing to drop Origins as a mod because I never did. It's mainly just that I disagree with the directions that the mod has gone over the years. It's systems have been built on poor foundations for years, but I feel the rewrites being made for them honestly aren't the right ones. Imo, they should be focusing on simplifying the codebase and reducing the bloat of it all. They are not really doing either, a lot of power types that should be deprecated are still a thing, entire systems that could just be handled by the base game's content aren't. It's just a total mess! With this and genuine mental health issues from just dealing with ppl in the community, as well as feeling like I only matter because of Origins, I decided to drop working for/on the mod. That is not to say I won't be revisiting the concept that Origins was ever again. Just wait and see... I will also be doing PRs to Apoli/Origins to bring Apugli's content to the base mod. Think of it as me closing off on a high note rather than letting Apugli die and having devs lose out on tools. ## ModFest and Mod Garden Soo, ModFest. I was honestly making too largely scoped mods for what it'd allow me to realistically do. It lead to me becoming extremely stressed over the quality of the event, as well as my own work. I left the ModFest team to help myself calm down this year, and with that, made Mod Garden as an alternative that focused more on creating long term projects. I hope you all consider taking a look at Mod Garden, whether it be as a visitor, or as a participant. Just do what's comfortable for you. ## Farmer's Delight Refabricated All I want to say is holy shit thank you for this one. 9th most downloaded mod on Modrinth of the year is crazy, that aside... I was working on my own Farmer's Delight port before I decided to join up with MehVahdJukaar so we wouldn't have more than two competing standards for Farmer's Delight on Fabric. While I likely would've finished quicker, I was happy to have somebody else working on the mod with me. The launch for Refabricated was honestly bad. There was little information on why this port should be used instead, no contact with the original port's dev, leading to very hostile interactions between us and poor handling initially. While we won in the end thanks to my damage control and Jukaar staying out of it after a certain point as to not fuel the fire. It's something I'd rather not have to do again. I would also like to thank vectorwing (the Farmer's Delight dev) for stating that you shouldn't attack either side. This imo quite petty drama was ultimately on us thanks to poor planning. Porting Lib, while having its own problems, has been a huge help for this mod in general. I was considering dropping it for 1.21.1 bc it only really cares about Create Fabric, which just hasn't really been going for 1.21.1, but Jukaar insisted we keep it for an easier time, which I abided to. All we can really do from here is go forward, we need to keep the mod alive for as long as possible. ## Bovines and Buttercups 2.0.0 This is my personal pick for a milestone of this year. Bovines 2.0.0 was a rework of the mod. It introduced a lot of changes, both new content and to old content. There's really not much to say besides how I think it's one of my finest works yet. Please do give Bovines a chance if you haven't already, I assure you'll love it if you like cozy, cottagecore, flower forest vibes. # 2025 - What's Next? What's next? Quite a lot actually. I'll start from the simplest to the most complicated. ## New Mods! I do plan on creating more mods to expand my mod arsenal. I personally hope to make mods with more scope than I have been, stuff that is less-so additions and is moreso major parts of the game. I hope to also work with people more often for future mods, mainly because I should split the workload more than I have been. There's a lot of backlog in Greenhouse, and while we can't reveal what it is yet, I hope you'll all stick around to see what comes in the future. ## Rapscallions and Rockhoppers 2.0.0 RnR is honestly really shaky. It's not really something you can simply port, because it lacks a lot of polish that is usually found in other mods due to being made in a strict 2 weeks. There was also a lot of scrapped content due to time constraints whilst working on the mod. We hope to bring it back for 2.0.0. Either way, we're hoping to get this out before March. I'd personally expect a late January/early February release. ## Brewin' and Chewin' 3.0.0 I am now on the dev team for Brewin' and Chewin', a Farmer's Delight addon focused on creating intoxicating drinks as well as new foods such as cheese and fudge through Kegs. In terms of features, we're mostly done. All we need to do now is to polish up features, as well as tweaks to make sure that everything is as good as it can be. Expect this in the middle January with a potential delay. Then expect 1.21.x sometime after this, hopefully before March. ## Enchiridion Beta Enchiridion is planned to enter beta in late February. This version of the mod will not be entirely feature complete, but will hopefully get its points across in a good manner, allowing for constructive feedback and a community to surround the mod. Most of the work currently is on the new enchantments, to provide more options for players within a system that encourages player specific options. Although there's still some work to be done for enchanting methods and world loot. ## YouTube I hope to get into YouTube as a content creator. On the channel, I'll mostly be talking about the design behind my mods and why they are designed that way. I will warn you all that I will probably not read most comments for the sake of my mental health, and I may distance myself from my Discord if YouTube's audience takes over. I personally trust that any moderators I choose will do a good job at handling my server. I mainly just wish to focus on my creative endeavours more than myself as an online personality. ## Mod Garden I briefly mentioned this in the 2024 recap, but I hope to explain the timeframes here. Mod Garden's first event's development period will start in March or April. With the entire process lasting a few months before a showcase world pops up. ## Bovines and Buttercups 2.1.0 This will be the introduction of the mod to 1.21.4, as well as tweaking some existing content further and adding new Mooblooms for further customisation. All I can really say is that this is more low priority than other stuff. Expect this to be done after the other things are done and I have more spare time to work on it. ## Orchestrate An extension to my ModFest Carnival entry, Mib. It ultimately got the chopping block thanks to the two week dev time of the jam. I hope to bring Mib and Orchestrate back as soon as I can get everything else done in a state I'm happy with. ## Libraries Honestly, we have a whole lot of tech that needs to be created for our mods to really shine. We'll likely always be working on libraries to provide our mods with the options they need to really shine. ## Hiatus I plan on taking a few months of hiatus after the first Mod Garden concludes. During this time, I'll be asking others to handle bug reports. I mainly just want time to focus on non Minecraft related stuff, such as game dev. I hope to get started with the game I plan on making next year. # Conclusion I hope you all had a better year than I did as a whole, and I also hope you all continue to support my works in the future. There's a lot in store for me over the next few months, so I hope to see you all around!
