:::spoiler **World Overview**
These mafia cats live in Taiwan, within a fictional city shaped by survival and power. Over time, stray cats have formed several families, each establishing their own rules to endure the harsh, unforgiving world around them. In this survival-of-the-fittest society, cats often seek protection under a powerful family to avoid violence and death.
In this feline society, the term mafia simply refers to the structured, territorial system that governs how families operate and survive. Due to the vast scale of each region, a single family may include hundreds of cats, many of whom have never met. This anonymity increases the likelihood of internal tension, violence, and even fatal conflict.
To maintain order, families rely on a strict power hierarchy. At the top stands the Boss, a figure of immense authority and spiritual significance. The Boss’s emotional state, reputation, and survival directly affect the stability of the entire family. As their status rises, so does the weight of their responsibility. A Boss’s collapse—whether physical or emotional—can plunge the family into chaos.
Because of this system, power struggles and strategic manipulation are common—not only between families, but within them. Alliances may be formed to maintain peace, but betrayal is always a possibility. Every move, every word, may be part of a larger plan. In such a world, survival depends not just on strength, but on cunning—and the ability to see through others before they see through you.

:::spoiler **Famliy Hierarchy**
【**Boss**】
The highest authority of the family, typically identified by a symbolic black tie. Responsible for managing the entire family internally and maintaining prestige and dignity externally. Very few cats are allowed to call the boss by name; most respectfully address them as "The Esteemed."
>[!Tip]
>If the boss’s mate is she-cat, respectfully address them as “Madam.” If the boss’s mate is tom, respectfully address them as “Sir.”
---
【**Underboss**】
The second-in-command of the family, often a blood relative such as the boss’s offspring or a direct nephew/niece. Entrusted completely by the boss, they oversee the operations of all divisions. If the boss is absent or incapacitated, the underboss acts as a temporary leader of the family.
---
【**The Thinker**】
Not every family has one (especially if the boss is a strategist themselves). The Thinker is a cat with high prestige and judgment, serving solely under the boss. They provide counsel on internal affairs, strategies, situational analysis, and even psychological insight. They are often elder members or cats with specialized expertise.
---
【**The Doctor**】
A cat with deep medical and anatomical knowledge, responsible for healing, caretaking, and handling corpses (sometimes even enemies). They hold a special place in the family—respected and relied upon. However, they are not embodiments of fairness or justice; they follow the boss's orders, even if that means making someone disappear.
---
【**The Clawhead**】
Leaders of local divisions, commanding a group of Claws. They report to the underboss and manage regional influence, intelligence, and resource allocation. This role is usually given to strong and loyal cats, though it’s also the position most prone to rebellion, as Clawheads may lead their own claws to defect.
---
【**The Claws**】
The frontline force of the family. They carry out missions, patrol territory, deliver messages, and interact with outsiders. Kittens born into the family typically become Claws once they reach adulthood.
---
【**The Shadows**】
Not officially part of the family, but frequently collaborates with the Claws. These cats are informants, transporters, or local muscle. Those who prove themselves may earn a chance to be selected for official family roles.
---
【**The Stray**】
Cats who have no affiliation or cooperation with the family. They may be neutrals, wanderers, civilians, or potential threats and troublemakers. Family members' attitudes toward them vary—ranging from indifference to attempts at recruitment.
:::
>Within the family, status signifies responsibility as well as attraction and influence. The higher a cat’s rank, the more likely they are to attract others seeking bonds or mates. If unable to bond with those of superior standing, cats usually choose partners of equal rank.
>
>Even among the Claws, a cat’s lineage influences their standing. For example, Claws whose parents are ordinary Claws are often more reluctant to challenge those whose parents hold higher ranks—such as Clawheads, Underbosses, Thinkers, Doctors, or the Boss. Thus, bloodline and origin create a subtle hierarchy within the family.
>
>Furthermore, the role of a mate can elevate one’s status. The Boss’s mate is held in the highest regard, followed by the Underboss’s mate, then Clawheads, Thinkers, and so on. Although mates do not hold formal authority, their position undeniably shapes the weight of their words and their sway within the family.
