I, who you make fun of, dare handle the bear." Everyone looked at Bellimicus, astonished. Bellimicus, who now sent away the servant, led Dumnorix to the bear. "Surely you want to handle the bear?" he rudely asked. "Surely you want to give the guests a spectacle." At once Dumnorix rose and mocked Bellimicus. "It is easy for me" he said "to overtake this bear. You also, little man, can overtake it." Then the others who were very afraid before, started laughing a lot. Bellimicus, when he listened to the laughter, in rage hit the bear, and pushed her to Dumnorix. Suddenly, the bear turned around and ferociously hit Bellimicus. Then the scared chieftans held up a large uproar and ran to the door as quickly as possible. They even fought among themselves, because they could not go out. The bear, which was frightened by this clamor, ran to the couch. The king however, because he was lame, could not escape. Dumnorix in vain threw himself into the bear. Salvius was standing motionless. But Quintus grabbed a spear, which the German slave owned. He quickly threw the spear and pierced the savage beast. She fell down dead.
