# Benefits to members
This list is a subset of [account metrics](/xnUSdbbaQS-wn0KmIYRh-Q).
Whilst members may take an interest in the health of a club once they are in it, and will want some assurance that the club is viable before joining, during recruitment the primary focus should be on metrics that reflect individual benefits rather than aggregate quantities at the [club level](/0Pyj0CjtSP65hYzq0AdTQQ).
In the absence of data from actual mutual credit clubs, one approach to getting realistic estimates for items on the list below could be to find out how much bilateral trade credit potential members already extend to each other, and consider what the benefits would be under some core assumptions about how a club might operate, e.g. the effect of continuous credit clearing on exposure to late payment or default. This will result in a conservative estimate of benefits that apply before less direct mechanisms (such as increased trust, which is also hard to quantify) are taken into account.
However, it may be the case that quantities of trade credit or default rates are not actually known either, in which case gathering this data should be part of the initial membership audit. Some pertinent questions are suggested for each of the envisaged benefits below. For an overall cost-benefit analysis that takes into account all the factors below, see [cost-benefit analysis for members](/yUOzV2rhSeCVLfropzs77w).
