# Assessment
**Summary:**
- Five assignments worth 15% each.
- Mathematical journal: 25%
The mathematical journal is essentially a set of course notes, except the student creates them rather than the unit coordinator.
## Expectations and assessment criteria for the mathematical journal
1. The mathematical journal should be well written, and the exposition should be clear and simple.
2. It should be comprehensive, covering each topic in the unit.
3. The main results should be listed, and their proofs, if within the scope of the unit. Some theorems do not need to have a proof if indicated, such as the Perron-Frobenius Theorem.
4. All requisite material for understanding the main results is required. This includes definitions, and perhaps, supporting examples.
However, it should not be as long or detailed as an honours thesis. The main idea is that it would form a set of notes that would be the backbone of an undergraduate unit on algebraic graph theory and association schemes.
## Deadlines of assignments
The format of the solutions is up to the student. Submissions can simply be made via email.
