When the bombs dropped, there wasn’t much to be targeted in the region around Hurricane, Utah. So when society came to an end, the sleepy town of La Verkin was mostly intact, and they were left wondering what all the fuss was about. They reared their heads and blasts of radiation and the coming chaos would hit them like it hit anyone on earth that day. Over a century later, it is virtually abandoned, save for a large, old bar, called “the Babylon”. A few families stayed there, though they were brought to the brink of losing what little they had when their water purifier broke and they began to grow sick. To make matters worse, the tribals of Zion Canyon were growing restless and were beginning to antagonise them, costing numerous lives before a member of the group ventured west to find help.
They returned with a party of soldiers from a new Republic in the west calling themselves New Californians- they proceeded to assist in repairs, and established a permanent outpost in their town. With them came the water traders, and with them came more business. Over about twenty years the small congregation in Babylon had expanded out to become the town of Babylon once more, with its own walls and a framework to support a much larger community.
---

---
The town swelled as business boomed, a few small gangs even formed and were brought together in a congregation underground called the fight pits, where slavers from the east would purchase slaves under the pretence of being sold as boxers/wrestlers in a new vegas casino. Really, they were cuffed soon after leaving town, never to return. This was only the beginning of their troubles, for soon the NCR grew ambitious and began to pester the town with agreements and treaties that would sign away their autonomy. They refused indefinitely, and after five years of trying, the NCR was called back south to assist in the war against the Brotherhood. With them, the water traders eventually moved, their trade routes compromised, and the town had begun to seem somewhat barren. Many people moved out or simply died of malnutrition in the years after that, though many efforts have been employed like re-opening the fighting pits in a more legal form after they had been closed unceremoniously during the Legion’s rise.
With their numbers still dwindling, things looked bad for Babylon. Their water was only kept purified because of the efforts of a local vault scientist who specialised in water chip technology, The protection of the town was only ensured by old savings held by the Innkeeper(The de facto leader) and the locals only kept healthy by a single Followers doctor that had been displaced during his travels. When that traveller moved on, they had to pray that they could last.

The town Innkeeper said that when the water purifier broke, that night, he saw an emaciated woman walking through the streets in dark rags. She gave him a small package that the Innkeep never spoke of again, and she told him that soon things would change. He was dismissed as one might with such claims, however, within the week, the 2nd battle of Hoover Dam was concluded with House as the victor. In the coming years the Followers of the Apocalypse moved into a small compound on the outskirts, the Crimson Caravan Company moved in- and at the same time, the fighting pits received a generous and anonymous donation, beginning illegal night time operations. Later the culprit was found to be the Crimson Caravan themselves, and while they could not stop this pit from operating entirely, they could kick the Caravan Company out. A small rivalry was formed between the factions, and in their spite, they built their new outpost directly outside.

Now, with many powers entering the region the people of the town have the opportunity to take control of this place and leverage it to build into something greater. They also stand to lose it all. Though many factions play their wargames with this place being but a square, to the people of Babylon, this conflict will decide the fate of all they know. Criminal or honest, hard working townsperson, the people in this town know that they must support one another first before these newcomers. It's time to show these outsiders what the people of Babylon are made of!
