However, you must purchase maps from the cartographer to travel. The cost of travel depends on the distance between the plots. If the destination plot belongs to a clan member, the cost is reduced by 50%, and if it is the player's own village, travel is free of charge.
## Village
**Settler**: The player that starts the village is known as the village settler. The settler of a village will always be the same player.
### Score
A village's progress is measured by a points score, and starts with 1,000 points. There are five milestones:
- Settlement (1000 points)
- Village (4000 points)
- Town (10,000 points)
- Metropolis (18,000 points)
- Megalopolis (30,000 points)
Reaching higher milestones allows the village to have more villagers. So, as the village advances, it can accommodate an increasing number of villagers.
### Villagers
A village can have up to 8 villagers, who are unlocked through the mason. When a villager is unlocked, the village gains 500 points. Each villager starts with a happiness score of 10, which can rise if they survive a raid or decrease if they perish in one. The village's settler can collect taxes from the villagers every 24 hours using the bell. The amount of emeralds received as tax depends on the villager's happiness. For example, a villager with a happiness score of 50 will contribute 50 emeralds in tax.
### Traders
A village can have up to 13 traders, starting with a farmer and mason. The mason can unlock new traders, earning the village 500 points for each new trader. Traders can level up, unlocking new trades, and the village gains 250 experience points each time they level up. Traders gain experience by selling emeralds, and for every experience point they earn, the village earns 1 point.
### Keeper
The village's protector, known as the Keeper, is an iron golem situated at the village center, tasked with safeguarding it from raiders.
#### Health
The Keeper's maximum health depends on the village's points. To restore its health, simply right-click the Keeper with an emerald (50 health) or an emerald block (450 health).
#### Skills
During raids, the Keeper gains experience by defeating raiders, enabling it to level up. Each level grants the Keeper a skill point that can be allocated to one of three skills:
- Strength (increasing damage dealt)
- Defense (reducing damage taken)
- Agility (increasing movement speed).
Advancing a skill requires spending emeralds, with the cost increasing as the skill becomes more advanced. The Keeper can attain a maximum level of 100, allowing for a total of 100 skill points. The village settler can access the Keeper's menu by right-clicking, facilitating skill advancement.
### Raids
#### Bad Omen
Pillagers roam near the village. If a settler kills one, it brings a bad omen on the village. Killing more pillagers can increase the omen level to 5. The higher the omen level, the greater the risk of a raid.
#### Raiders
During a raid, raiders enter the village from all four directions aiming to kill all traders and villagers. Your aim is to protect the villagers and defeat the raiders. If all villagers die, the village loses. If all raiders are eliminated, you win. The raid's difficulty is based on the village's points.
#### Villagers
Villagers, including traders, have 50 health. If a villager is killed during the raid, they will respawn after the raid finishes.
#### Keeper
The village keeper will actively engage with the raiders. If the keeper is killed during the raid, the keeper will respawn after the raid has finished with 100 health.
