# General Ideas
Where do you think it's worth starting? There's CDClient, packets, or explaining the difference between a server and a client, all of which could be reasonable starting points, I feel.
I'd start with reminding people that each mission has multiple tasks that appear separately in the TODO bar at the top of the screen. We can start with pointing out a POI type task, like go to epsilon starcracker and go from there.
Ok, so typically if this were to be a standalone post, I'd begin with an introduction that goes something like this:
> So, it's a bit of a cliché that everyone always says that a tonne of work goes into the server, but if you're like me, you probably have no idea about most of what goes on. In this document, I'll be working with DLU's Xiphoseer, who actually does know what he's talking about, to try to explain what goes into an LU server. And, as a first port of call, where better to start than missions.
> You land in Avant Gardens, jumping out of your rocket. You see the landing cinematic, the glowing light around Wisp, the first time we've seen clear sky in LU. You walk up to him and hear the mission complete sound. It's familiar from the Venture Explorer, but you can immediately tell that this is a much larger place. The tutorial is over, we're ready to get our first missions in this new world.
> This is what we see and feel as a player, but what actually goes into making this happen, and what goes into reconstructing all of this to build a server emulator. Over the next few posts, we'll be trying to explain this mission and other parts of LU, so I'll stop procrastinating, and let's get into this!
This is very much my style of writing, don't know how much this matches up with your idea of what this'd be like.
I actually like that a lot. It's not at all like a text I could have written, but that is really good in this context. We could even start with Wisp Lee as the first POI mission, now that you talk about it, I recall that feeling of seeing the landing cinematic, seeing the glowing light around Wisp, the first time we have clear sky in LU, walking up to her and hearing the mission complete sound. The player got that mission back on VE, but it's the first one that's completed in AG.
We could also explore whether we want to go so far as to produce these posts in full interview style.
That's good, because I couldn't do any of the stuff you'll be telling me about! xD
And yeah, I'd be up for doing Wisp Lee, it makes sense!
I did wonder about that, actually. It would sort of be quite nice. Or at least to write it in a way that you can tell which of us is talking about what thing. Don't know I'd quite go full interview style, because I wouldn't know the right questions to ask, and it might end up with a lot of you saying something, and then me trying to rephrase it for people, but I do like it idea of having both our voices being clearly distinct in the style. I read a book several years ago which explained Quantum Theory in exactly that way, had one professor, and a comedian. Technically it was co-written, with both of them writing every part, but ocassionally one of them would make a comment about the other or something like that, where their individual voices would be clear.
Yeah, something like that is what I'm thinking. It's more like making this an engaging way to present the content than to have two sides, cleanly separated by some journalistic distance.
Agreed, I get that. So yeah, generally as one co-written block, but with the ocassional distinction for entertainment and engagement purposes. That sounds good to me!

Talk to Epsilon Starcracker:

Turns out it's a script task, not a POI
If that's more complicated to explain, we could go back to Epsilon?
Yeah, maybe we do that in the order of the post, but that doesn't really change the introduction, as it's just a few missions own the line. I think we can I thnik we get away with using Wisp to introduce general ideas and circle back to it when we talk about scripts
Btw, what are your thoughts on keeping this document tidy. At the moment I feel like we're writing a lot of stuff which, once we've agreed on it, just ends up taking up space.
I think it'd be great to have clean documents but keep this one for reference and just create a new one for each post preparation.
Sounds good!
Ok, created a new notes thing for the introductory post, then.
So, where do we want to begin with this? I feel we should, early on, probably get an explanation of the client vs the server out of the way, because everyone seems to miss that point. I can probably do that, and you can touch it up with your comments, etc, since it's not the most technical thing. After that, though, where would you like to begin with the missions? Actually, you said by reminding people of the potential for multiple tasks, any idea after that?
Genuinely enjoying writing this, actually. Didn't think it'd be all that fun, but has been so far. It's a nicer writing style than the scripts for my YT!
