# Pilot Study
---
A pilot study was carried out using a subset of the researcher’s current organization and associates, which was unrelated to the planned case study organization. The pilot study was designed to ensure survey instrument clarity, reliability, and validity, as well as to confirm that the planned data collection answered the research questions.
The data was sent to 23 candidates that work in different positions in two medical device companies in the UAE and 21 responded back. The link for the pilot study survey was sent via email on the 4th of March 2022. The first respondent in the pilot study answered back on the 4th of March 2022 and the 21st respondent answered on the 5th of March 2022. This meant that this method of collecting data worked fine as no participant faced any trouble.
Data collected from the pilot study was then exported to a Microsoft Excel Sheet version 2019 via Microsoft Forms. To ensure the anonymity of the participants, no names or emails were collected. The average time to complete the questionnaire was 14:01 minutes as per the calculations of Microsoft Forms.
The researcher showed the Cronbach Alpha coefficients for all the variables. The questionnaire included 10 subscales.
The perceived external prestige subscale consisted of 6 items (α = .83), the location subscale consisted of 2 items (α = .73), and the flextime subscale consisted of 4 items (α = .95). The organizational justice subscale consisted of 5 items (α = .91) and the job satisfaction subscale consisted of 5 items (α = .92). The organizational commitment subscale consisted of 6 items (α = .92) and the extrinsic rewards subscale consisted of 6 items (α = .96). The career advancement subscale consisted of 5 items (α = .95) and the lack of alternatives subscale consisted of 4 items (α = .85). The constituent attachments subscale was found to be reliable (4 items; α = .74). The turnover intention subscale was found to be highly reliable (5 items; α = .96). All sub-factors had acceptable Cronbach Alpha coefficients and the researcher deemed the pilot study valid and reliable.
