# Basic video creation guide

## Recording software

Highly recommend using OBS Studio. It’s completely free and arguably the best one, and it’s pretty easy to use.

**Tip:**
Use “Window Capture” and select “Olympus” to record only your game instead of your whole screen (looks much better this way).

## Video editing

The one I use and recommend is [DaVinci Resolve](https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve//). (For the download click on the top option, the one below with “Studio” in the name is the paid version. It’ll ask you to put personal information, but you can just fill in whatever.)
It’s really powerful even for the free version. might be a little hard at first, but there are many easy-to-follow tutorials online that will help you.
If you don’t like this one, there are plenty of other good video editors that are available, feel free to use a different one that is to your liking.

## Tags

Proper title, tags, and other information on the video is very important to let more people find your video easily and gain more attention on it.
I’ll be focusing on __“Tags”__ and __“Category”__ specifically here, but you should look into the rest as well.

- Tags

After clicking on “Upload video” and selecting your file, a window will appear.
Scroll down to **SHOW MORE**


Now go to __“Tags”__


In there, write only things relevant for your video.
Examples: “NosTale”, “NosTale Private Server”, “Nostale Olympus”. if your video is about fernon raid for example put “Fernon Raid”. And anything else your video is actually about.

- **Category**
Scroll down a bit further and you’ll find that.


Put __“Gaming”__ and __“NosTale”__ as shown.

## Thumbnails

A good thumbnail is another thing that is very important to get people to click on your video. and it’s very easy to do.
You can even just use paint, but I recommend GIMP as a free and pretty good image editing software. If you can't be bothered to download anything, then Canvas is also a decent alternative, however it requires you to create an Account.

**The process is pretty simple:**

- 1. Have the image size as 1280x720.
- 2. Choose a background.
- 3. Put an image render on top. you can download this file for them.
- 4. Put some text.(You can alternatively just have an In-Game screenshot that looks good and put text on it.)

## Music

Youtube has a lot of great royalty free music you can download use freely to enhance your videos without getting copyrighted.
Go to YouTube Studio and then to __“Audio Library”__ and explore the music there.

## YouTube Shorts

In order to create a YouTube short, you need to be aware that they require you to be not longer than 1 minute long before deciding to upload them. Furthermore there are specific vertical or square [aspect ratios](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6375112?sjid=18313454511265381466-EU) that are required from you as well.
