# Kubernetes Learning Week
**WELCOME TO KUBERNETES LEARNING WEEK**
<!---  --->

Kubernetes Learning Week is intended to be a self-directed exploration of Kubernetes components to help you start your learning journey. It provides:
* a self-paced and team learning environment
* a coherent, if cursory, overview of the main components of Kubernetes
* the opportunity to productively struggle through these problems and really learn the material
## Acceptance Criteria
By the end of this week, you should be able to...
* answer your own Kubernetes questions by reading documentation
* be an active member of conversations concerning Kubernetes, specially within your learning group
* understand Kubernetes well enough to whiteboard it
* run an application on Kubernetes
* programmatically extend and interact with Kubernetes
## But what if I get stuck?
The purpose of this week is for you to productively struggle.
If the problem is related to Kubernetes itself try these steps:
* Try it again.
* Re-read the docs.
* Do some Googling.
* Talk to your peers.
* Ask on [#kubernetes-learners](https://vmware.slack.com/archives/CM3MKD77W).
## Udemy Course
Purchase* the [CKAD Udemy Course](https://www.udemy.com/course/certified-kubernetes-application-developer/). You may request reimbursment for it via Concour or Take1.
The course has 10 modules in total. We grouped related modules to make better use of your time. We'll meet once a day to talk about what you learned in those modules. It is expected that you and your team have gone through these modules before we meet.
* **[Tuesday]** Introduction and Core Concepts (2:05h)
* **[Wednesday]** Configuration and Multi Container Pod (2:15h)
* **[Thursday]** Observability and POD Design (1:30h)
* **[Friday]** Service and Network and State Persistence (2:40h)
* Bonus: Game of PODS and Certification TIPS
**Note: The course is usually discounted to under $20. If it isn't discounted currently, there are often links floating around the internet that can be found with a quick google search.*
## Commitment
Expect to dedicate at least two hours per day, five days in total. We'll regroup four times during the week in which each team will have five minutes to demonstrate what they learned in a format that can be:
* an open explanation
* a presentation
* a demo
## Meet your team
Let's now meet your teams. In a separate room you'll have 10 minutes to:
* introduce yourselves and the product you're currently working on.
* set up the schedule you'll getting together to either watching the training together or to reviewing its content.
* come up with a name for your team (if you're out of curiosity, color name is accesptable)
