# Installing the Juxt Alpha
Hello! Thank you so much for your support, and welcome to the Juxt Private Alpha!
Juxt is very much still a work and progress, and it's expected that things will break, and some things will not function at all.
This guide does assume you have basic knowledge of installing homebrew. If you run into any issues, please do not hesitate to reach out to a developer in **[#testing-discussion](discord://discord.com/channels/408718485913468928/882044583238832238)**
### In order to use Juxt, there are a few requirements you need to meet:
* Nintendo Wii U with cold boot patches (such as CBHC)
* SD Card
* [Mocha CFW*](https://apps.fortheusers.org/wiiu/mocha) (for the installer, once it's been run you no longer need it)
* [Juxt Installer](https://github.com/PretendoNetwork/Martini/releases/download/v0.3/martini-juxt-patcher.rpx)
* [Pretendo Network Installer](https://github.com/PretendoNetwork/Nimble/releases/download/v1.0/nimble_patcher_dbg.elf)
*Can be installed from the Homebrew App Store
*Links updated Nov-7-2021*
**Note:** If you are using a custom system menu theme and have replaced men/mem2 on your NAND, you must restore it before attempting to install Juxt.
For whatever reason it causes a crash on exit. You can reapply it after Juxt has been installed.
## Setting up the SD Card
1. After downloading the Juxt Installer and the SSL Patch/Network Installer, copy each into the `SD:/wiiu/apps` directory
2. Then copy the contents of `mocha.zip` to the root of the SD Card (if not already installed)
## Installing the Patches
1. Open the Homebrew Channel and start mocha if you are not already running it.
2. Click on `martini-juxt-patcher.rpx` and wait for it to evaluate the state of your Miiverse applet. If all goes well it should ask you if you would like to install patches. Press A to begin installing them.
3. Once it's done reboot your console and open the Homebrew Channel again
4. Now run `nimble_patcher_dbg.elf`. You will see a menu pop up on the screen. Press A to install the patches and return to the Homebrew Channel
If your console freezes, hold down the power button to restart and try again.
5. If you were sucessful, head back to the System Menu and move on to the next section!
## Setting Up your Pretendo Network ID
Once you've run the patches, click on your Mii in the top left corner of the gamepad and then select Switch User. Then Select Add New User and go through the normal user creation process.
**When you get to the End User Licence Agreement Page, make sure you see Pretendo Network Agreement and not Nintendo Network Agreement. If you see Nintendo, you're not on our servers!**
After you've created your new user, let us know in the **[#testing-discussion](discord://discord.com/channels/408718485913468928/882044583238832238)** channel on Discord and we'll whitelist your account so you can connect to the servers.
### That's it! Have fun in Juxt!
