### About Us
- 說明+適合什麼樣的人來讀:
- About us:
Welcome to Interdisciplinary Program of Engineering(IPE), National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan! Established in 2007, our Interdisciplinary Program stands alongside the four Departments and two Institutes in the College of Engineering. With our dedication to cultivate engineering talents, we pride ourselves on offering an excellent, comprehensive education to meet the needs of students and society. Students enrolled in this Program will develop dual specialties through series of courses and training provided by two departments - both chosen purely in accord to students' own interests: one, out of the four Departments in the College of Engineering; and, two, from a department in any another College. We believe in an interdisciplinary future and strive to present a diverse yet robust engineering program.
Besides an thorough education with solid backgrounds and skills in engineering and applied science, we also encourage students to broaden their horizons through exchange programs or summer classes abroad. We live in an international society, hence it is crucial for our students to acquire an oversea learning opportunity and experience different cultures during their term in our program.
If you are ambitious, motivated, and want to have an impact on the real world, join us! Let's do this!

- 關於專長 Specialties
- The Interdisciplinary Programs and Specialty system are course structures unique to National Tsing Hua University which aim to provide modularity to the curriculum. Students are taught the core subjects of each department without sacrificing detail and integrity. With interdisciplinary talent being the trend of the future, most departments offer their programs in the form of specialties for students to not only acquire an expansive toolset but also learn to work with people from other disciplines. Compared with minors or a double majors, specialties do not require as many credits and can provide more freedom for students to arrange their schedules.

- Food
- There are plenty of options for food both on campus and nearby. You can enjoy a vast variety of Taiwanese cuisine with an average of about 60-200 NTD(2-6 USD) per meal. Food delivery services such as UberEats or FoodPanda are also very popular and convenient. Here are some of the main eateries:
- Main Cafeteria: Located right across the wooden stage, this cafeteria is always busy with the sounds of student activities. With it being renovated in 2021, it is one of the newest cafeterias on campus, serving affordable meals that will leave you satisfied. There is also a Mcdonald's and a 7-11 in the Main Cafeteria.
- Shuimu Hall: Shuimu Hall is located near the entrance to the dorms. You will often see students take away their meals to enjoy back in their dorms. The food here is a little more expensive than the Main Cafeteria, but there are various cuisines to choose from, including Japanese food and a waffle stand. There is also an optician, a hair salon, a dry cleaner, a print shop, and a small grocery store in the Shuimu Hall. A one-stop-shop for everything you might need.
- Fengyun Hall: Fengyun Hall is located just across from Shuimu Hall, and is a four-storied food paradise! From tacos to steaks or even spaghetti, if you can imagine it, we've got it! It's a little more pricey compared to the other two halls, but it's definitely worth it!
- The Loft: The Loft is located on the fourth floor of Fengyun Hall and it provides a dine-in experience for students and professors alike. You can enjoy a set meal of steamed fish or even traditional Cantonese cuisine here! Good for a nice Friday night meal!
- Wavelight Restaurant: The Wavelight Restaurant is located near the bus station in front of General building II. They serve scrumptious Italian dishes like risotto and spaghetti in a beautiful window-paned building. Perfect for a first date!
- Guest House II: Hidden near the Delta Hall, you can find traditional Taiwanese food in the noontime and authentic Indian Curry at night. It is truly a hidden gem popular among engineering students.
- Tsing Hua Night Market: Tsing Hua Night Market is just across from the main gate, with various shops open from dusk till dawn! You can enjoy restaurants as well as food stands, all without breaking the bank. Although it is called a night market, they are also open during lunchtime.
- Studying
- Studying is a big part of student life here at NTHU, and here are some places that can let you cram for your midterm!
- NTHU Library: The main library has three floors full of seats for you to get your study on! There is also a moonlight zone that is open all night long! Besides the main library, there are also branches on campus, including HSS Branch and one in the physics building.
- Shuimu Bookstore: Shuimu Bookstore is located on the first floor of Fengyun Hall, and it's a great place to read a book and enjoy a cup of coffee at the same time.
- Entertainment
- Cheers: Cheers is a bar located just across the main gate, in the Tsing Hua night market. You can enjoy late-night drinks and the atmosphere with friends here.
- Bar 227: Bar 227 is a newer bar close to National Chiao Tung University that is equipped with darts and fashionable drinks.
- Karaoke: If you ever come to study in Taiwan, you will see that Karaoke is a big part of our local nightlife. It often begins with a full night of singing, then ends with breakfast the following morning.
- Student Association
- Events: Student Associations of each department will often host their own events such as karaoke night or the Christmas ball, and our SA is no different! We host a variety of events each year, and we'd love for you to join!

Undergraduate students of IPE must have overseas study or overseas internship experience during their studies. They must submit relevant certifications within the specified time before graduation. Upon review of the bachelor’s program, they can meet the graduation threshold if their experience meets the requirements.
Students can choose either overseas internships, exchanges, or volunteers.
If the student is an international exchange student, you need to choose a region different from your original country.
