# Navigating future directions together
In the context of [Tools for Intentional Relationships](/@IntentionalRelationshipsToolkit/Syicq5TaL) the following questions are an example of prompts that can help when discussing which directions we want to move our relationshi towards in the (near) future.
Assumed context: the concept of '[relational elements](https://hackmd.io/@IntentionalRelationships/ElementsOverview)'
## Guide
Identify any goals or motivations for having these discussions. For example, do you want this discussion to help:
* Clarify current understandisng of the relationship elements that form part of a current dynamic?
* Identify possible directions a shared future might take?
* Negotiate what next steps are feasible for continuing navigating future directions together?
Reflect on each of the following questions individually and then discuss these reflections together
## Exploratory questions
1. What relationship-element characterise our current dynamic?
2. What additional relationship elements could we potentially incorporate into our dynamic?
3. Are there any relationship elements that are particularly important to one or both of us?
4. Are there any relationship elements that either of us are ambivalent about (i.e., would consider if important to the other person, but wouldn't otherwise seek out in this relationship)?
5. Are there any relationship elements that one person wants, and the other person doesn't ever expect to want (in this relationship)?
6. Are there any mutually-wanted potential relationship elements that are not an option for a specified time frame (e.g., due to responsibilities that either person has committed to for that time frame)?
7. Are there any mutually-wanted potential relationship elements that should not be considered as options (e.g. due to external constraints that aren't tractable in the foreseeable future)?
8. Are there any combination of relationship elements that either of us regard as co-constituted (i.e., instances where if element-x was part of our relationship than element-y would be wanted so much that if element-y wasn't an option than element-x would also be off-limits, and vice versa)?
