--- title: Backgrounds tags: Fortuna(PBA) --- {%hackmd gb1JmMYYQWmAR-wNNIx9GA %} # Backgrounds <hr> Your traits are influenced largely by your backgrounds, and they're one of the most influential parts to trait selection. Some traits are locked behind backgrounds, resulting in them being only obtainable (in character creation) through those backgrounds. They should be integral parts of how your character approaches challenges on their way to **[Fortuna]**. You pick 2 backgrounds to represent your character, and decide whatever fitting name you think of for the class. Backgrounds feature both a stat minimum to use, and a list of traits to pick from. In character creation you Must pick atleast 1 trait from each background, and 1 more from either of your backgrounds. ### Specialist Stat Minimum **[5 Intelligence]** You're trained in intellectual subjects. Your background could represent a scientific field, leading you to try travelling to **[Fortuna]** to uncover a mystery. Or you might be a docter hired by the crew to keep their heads attached to their necks. ### Techie Stat Minimum **[5 Intelligence]** You're trained in almost anything electrical. This background rolls together both the mechanical world and technological, after a point of advancement it's hard to learn one without the other. Going to **[Fortuna]** might be a way to get a truely one-of-a-kind technology. ### Combatant Stat Minimum **[3 in 2 of Agility, Strength, or Endurance]** Everyone can fight, but you can do it *good*. You might be a sharpshooter or a space pirate with a sword, but whatever it is that's where you shine. **[Fortuna]** could be your destination for almost any number of reasons. ### Socialite Stat Minimum **[5 Charisma]** For most of your life, you've gotten some sort of practice with influence. You might be a merchant, popstar, or platoon leader. Whatever it is, you know just how to talk to people. ### Deviant Stat Minimum **[5 Agility]** This doesn't specifically mean you're a criminal -- but what you know how to do is definately illegal. If the crew is trying to force access into somewhere, you probably have just a little bit of know how of how to do it all. **[Fortuna]** might be your goal for an increase in quality of life. ### Explorer Stat Minimum **[3 Endurance and 3 Luck] Your life is in the stars. Flying, camping, avoiding taxes. Whatever you do, you know how to live off the grid. **[Fortuna]** might just be the last place on your bucket list. ### Mundane Stat Minimum **[NONE]** There's no special skills suitable for you on the trip to **[Fortuna]** -- why are you even here? The only training for this life is on your other career. The upside to this background is that it has no trait list -- thus you don't have to spend a trait on it; and it has no stat minimum, meaning you don't have to spread yourself.
