## Logbooks: The Good, The Better 👍👎
## The Good
- Really good to see so many of you try so many of the activities
- The layouts of a lot of them are exactly what we expect, with the exception that some of you put it in the wrong place. Understandable
## The Better
- Some of you do the activities as so, but you should be giving your opinions and security recommendations as you go
- Always try tying it to the weekly topics, some of the activities seem unrelated but they ALL have relevance. The challenge is trying to tie it back
- You are never too "unqualified" to write recommendations. We won't dock you for answer potentially incorrectly in a domain you are unfamiliar with. What we wanna see is some research and justifying your suggestions
- You won't lose Breadth mark if you don't do ALL the activities. Lets say about 75% of the activities should net about full marks. No restriction to do more however
- Make a blog posts for anything security related you do. They can be part of your "Challenge Activities"
## What I look for 👁️👄👁️
- Analysis:
- The weekly case study, did you consider a fair amount of angles to the problem?
- Breadth:
- Did they do a good number and variety of the activities
- Depth:
- Did they make detail suggestions?
- How far did their research take them?
- Typically mark these with (!)
- Community:
- Evidence as screenshot (At least 3)
- Insightful comments about the blog post
- Feel free to criticise or point out interesting points
- "Great post" type comments are BORING
- Security everywhere
- Dealing with challenges
- What did you find challenging?
- Any particular activities? Why?
- Anything broader like time management? Community?
- How did you overcome challenges? Actionable plans to overcome challenges
- We can only see the effort of what is documented.
- Community, Analysis, and challenges are easy marks
- **If it is not in the logbook, we won't mark it**

## Case Study: but what IS a door 🚪
Problem -> Solution
### What is door:
- Privacy and access
- Something you walk through
- Barrier hinges
You are the amazing Dick Smith. Skeptic, philanthropist, all round nice guy, and former Chairman of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority Board.
In light of the German Wings incident and the earlier EgyptAir incident the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, the government statutory authority responsible for the regulation of civil aviation, has asked you to return and lead a review into physical security of airplane cockpits and controls
You have been asked to consider the main lessons that that should be learned from these and other relevant incidents and to produce a shortlist of recommendations for actions to be taken to prevent future disasters.
Your review is widely supported including by the both houses of parliament, the public, Airbus, Boing, Airservices Australia, the major airlines which fly into Australia, the Australian Federation of Air Pilots, the Australian and International Pilots Association, the AFP and ASIO. These parties are all prepared to devote considerable resources to implement your recommendations.
State and justify your top recommendations. Give them in decreasing order of importance (i.e. most important first).
In making your recommendations you have been asked to consider:
- Physical security of Airplane cockpits
- Related policies and practices for air crew on board a flight
- Reevaluate the need for co-pilots to be in the cockpit
- any additional requirements to place on airline companies
- any additional requirements to place on airplane manufacturers
- any additional requirements to place on air traffic controls and on airports
- consider requiring systems to be installed on planes which allow their controls to be overriden by air traffic control towers in extreme events
- Any other such matters relevant to the physical security of the cockpit in order to prevent the re-occurrence of German Wings type incidents in the future.
