# Against the Necropolis's core concept
Mining gets reworked into a "room by room" exploration system inspired by Against the Storm.
These "rooms" will be called glades, open areas in the middle of the dense basalt walls that miners need to mine their way into.
Mining their way to glades is meant to be something planned, and slightly labourious. The plasma cutter is removed as a mining tool, and turned into a mining weapon, to achieve this.
Miners will also have access to a minimap/satellite view from the area, showing where each glade is and what is their size. Without any information on what is within, letting miners mark glades to open or to ignore, a push for planning and cooperation.
# Glade tiers
Glades have 3 tiers and a mix of fauna, material nodes and unique events based on their tier, on top of increasing the "global hostility" also based on their tier.
* Safe and small glades spawn near the the mining base with few fauna spawns, small material nodes and mostly safe events.
* Most of the glades will be medium sized, with dangerous fauna, big material nodes and dangerous events.
* At the edge of the map we will have hostile glades, these spawn with no basic fauna and have unique material nodes with an unique event attached to it.
Events inside glades range from the old and mostly passive ruins like the birthday party all the way to Megafauna spawn locations, but the important part is that events, whenever possible, should have multiple outcomes based around the player's decisions.
# The cycles
Ash Storms are replaced with weather cycles, the round starts in the "Sunlight" which is quite close to what the stormless lavaland is right now, high visibility and no direct threat.
After a few minutes, the weather changes to "Smog". visibility is lowered making combat and travel more dangerous, small earthquakes happen when near the next weather change.
"Eruption" will rain smolding ash causing damage to anyone outside without a suit that protects against fire (The basic miner suit keeps miners safe) and based around the global hostility, Necropolis tendrils will errupt from underground on each glade, locking them down and spawning hostile fauna.
If miners opt to stay in a glade, they can fight the tendrils for their old loot, on top of decreasing the global hostility.
# The necropolis' hostility
Opening glades by digging their way into one will increase the hostility of lavaland with multiple effects.
Some events can't be activated if the hostility is low, like the Legion and Bubblegum fights, but if hostility ever goes above that mark, the fight stays enabled even if hostility gets lowered.
Most events' difficulty will scale with the hostility, from enemy spawns to requirements to achieve it, this is to reward miners for going after tendril kills during the dangerous eruption cycle.
In the end, hostility's goal is to make lavaland scale and stay as an oppressive and challenging enviroment to stay in, but that miners have control over and can decrease with their actions.
# The Ash Drake nesthrone.
One of the hostile glades will always be the spawn location of the AD nesthrone, Ash Drakes get reflavored into being highly territorial creatures and only 1 can exist at lavaland at a time, respawning at the start of the next cycle if killed.
Players can challenge the Ash Drake for combat, and after suceeding they can search the nesthrone for the Drake's treasures (The old drops) on top of butchering his corpse for the Drake armor.
The other option is to make an offering to the Drake, which results in the Drake swapping your heart for a "heartless scar" giving you a few perks like fire immunity, dragon wings, etc.
But if the Drake is killed, all miners with heartless scars get a warning that their scar is fading and they have a few minutes to go back and get a new heart before they die.
Yes, this is a Dragon's Dogma reference.
# The Hierophant arena
The old arena, you can still fight it for the old drop, but the Hierophant will not die and simply move to the center of the arena. You can fight it again for fun, but it will not drop another staff.
There are 3 Hierophant related items that spawn on the small glades at random, if you bring any of these items to the Hierophant you will be blessed with a "Hierophant heart" which gives you unique Hiero related abilities.
# The blood chasm
This is BBG's new spawn location that is only enabled when hostility is high enough.
By jumping into the chasm, you will be send to a hell dimension to fight BBG.
There is no side option for dealing with BBG, only violence.
