Adding Gnosis Chain to your Preferred Wallet and Bridging DAI to xDAI You'll only need xDAI if you want to mint a contribution as a NFT. You can report as many contributions as you'd like without xDAI; however, once you want to mint, it'll require a small gas fee. **1. Add Gnosis Chain to Wallet** First things first, please make sure you have Gnosis Chain added to your preferred wallet - Metamask or WalletConnect. If you don't, follow this [tutorial](https://medium.com/stakingbits/setting-up-metamask-for-gnosis-chain-formerly-xdai-e0deb1541757) on how to set it up with Metamask! **2. Purchase DAI from Centralized Exhange** Next, you'll need some xDAI to cover transaction fees on Gnosis Chain. You cannot buy xDAI directly as it is a bridge from DAI on the Ethereum mainnet. Because of this, you will have to purchase DAI using a trading platform and then bridge it to xDAI. You can use Coinbase, Binance or your preferred exchange to purchase DAI on Ethereum mainnet. **3. Bridge DAI from Ethereum Mainnet to xDAI on Gnosis Chain** Once you purchase DAI, you can head over to the [xDAI Bridge](https://bridge.gnosischain.com/). You'll need to connect your wallet and swap *DAI from Ethereum Mainnet* to *xDAI on Gnosis Chain*. Check out this [tutorial on how to use the xDAI bridge](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKdh2cOOqUs) 👉 Tip: You'll need some ETH in your wallet to bridge over to Gnosis Chain. **4. Connecting to Govrn Web App** Once it successfully completes on both chains, you'll have xDAI in your wallet. You're now able to mint on-chain contributions using Govrn's Web App!! 🥳 You can connect to our Web App as long as you have added the Gnosis Chain. You just won't be able to mint on-chain if you don't have some small amount of xDAI to cover the cost of the transaction. Once you connect to our Web App, you can set up your profile. After, you'll be dropped off on the home page which is the contribution page. # I. Report ## a. Reporting a Contribution via Web App To report a contribution, you can click report on the left side bar or click the '+' icon on the bottom right. Alternatively, some contributions can be reported through integrations. We currently have Linear and are working towards Twitter, Clarity and more to make reporting as easy as possible! For instance, once you toggle an issue as 'Done' in Linear, it will automatically populate as a staged contribution. Check out this quick [tutorial](https://www.loom.com/share/a29e51467ab1492a9cb9adc2bfd150dc) on how to report a contribution. ![Report Fields](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/ry2rxC9R5.png) **The following are the contribution fields**: 👇 **Note that only 'Name of Contribution' and 'Activity Type' are required* * **Name of contribution** * High level overview * **Activity Type** * You can create your own or choose some pre-defined actvity types set by your DAO. * **Details** * Add a detailed description of the contribution you made. This is important because other DAO members will use this information to give an attestation or how high of a value assignment to give. (2-3 lines) * **Proof of Contribution** * You can insert a link. You will also be able to attach a file soon! * **DAO** * You can choose to leave this blank and attribute to a DAO later * You can choose 1 DAO * In the future, you can attribute to multiple DAOs * **Date of Contribution Engagement** * Record the day of actual contribution * You can always add or edit this afterwards Once completed, you click 'Add Contribution' and voilà - you'll find it on your contributions page as *staged*. 🪄 ## b. Reporting a Contribution via Kevin Malone Bot (Older Version) This can be done two ways through: 1. Your server 2. DMs with Kevin Malone Bot **Reporting through your server** 1. Go to your designated Kevin bot channel -- #contribution-logging 2. Send '/join' 3. Make sure you have DMs open since Kevin will DM you with next steps to set up your Govrn profile 4. Then weekly check in with Kevin Malone in the #contribution-logging channel: 5. Go to the #contribution-logging channel in Discord. 6. Send ‘/report’, and follow the link to the submission form for the rest of the steps. 7. When you get to the form page, wait for your DAO's logo to load and select copy/paste your name from drop down. 8. Select your contribution tier, and enter a high level list of your contributions for the week in the Description field 9. Select week ending date you’re submitting for. **Reporting through DMs with Kevin** 1. Send Kevin Malone a DM with '/report' 2. Respond with which DAO you'd like to report to with the corresponding emoji 3. Follow through the link 4. When you get to the form page, wait for your DAO's logo to load and select copy/paste your name from drop down. 8. Select your contribution tier, and enter a high level list of your contributions for the week in the Description field 9. Select week ending date you’re submitting for. **If you'd like to add yourself to a new DAO that's already onboarded to Govrn** 👇 1. Go to the server you'd like to add 2. Select the channel with the Kevin Malone bot for contribution logging 3. Send '/join' This would create a linkage between you and the DAO. You will find the added DAO as a selector in your DMs with Kevin Malone bot. **How to add a DAO to v1 that's not yet onboarded to Govrn?** 👇 1. DM Kevin Malone bot with '/add_dao' 2. Make sure to go to User Settings > Advanced first and toggle 'Developer Mode' to ON 3. Right click on that DAO's server and copy the 'Copy ID' 4. Paste & send the ID to Kevin 5. Write the DAO's name 6. All done! You're associated with the DAO. 🤫 You're only able to add a new DAO via Kevin Malone bot...for now Step 3 Clarification: ![Developer Mode On](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/BkgPBpsko.png) ## c. Attribute to a DAO We encourage you to report a contribution even without a DAO in mind. Whether it be a contribution that is good for another DAO, several DAOs or the entire ecosystem now or in the future. You can always attribute to DAO(s) later on. ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/rkR2y0OCq.png) 👀 Expect a 'Request to attest' feature coming soon! # II. User Dashboard ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/B1x7dlRGo.png) The User Dashboard is your home page. As a DAO contributor, you'll have an aggregated level overview of the number of contributions you've made each day over the past year. You're able to filter by DAO(s) and by date range. Check this [demo](https://www.loom.com/share/8c29ae62809249dda0798eb3494039df) to view the dashboard live! # III. Contributions ## a. Contribution The contributions page is the home portal for all your contributions. There are two statuses: 1. Staging 2. Minted **Staging**: When you upload any contribution, it gets the *staging* status. This means it's a private contribution -- only you see it. You can edit or delete it. Staged contributions consist of anything you think is interesting but you're not sure if you want to mint. You can edit your staged contributions, as long as you have not minted them on-chain yet. **Mint**: Once you have staged your contributions, you can then mint them on-chain as an NFT. You're allowed to bulk mint at a time. You're unable to edit your contributions once you've minted them; however, you're able to burn the NFTs in the future. We've tried to make your contributions as composable as possible. This means, you can link your contributions to as many DAOs as you'd like now, or in the future. We're essentially building a contribution graph under the hood 😉 The columns you see which are the contributions details, include the following: * Name - contribution * Status - if it's staged or minted * Engagement Date * DAO * You can also add proof if you have any links. Some cool things you can do: * Search by any contributions * Filter by columm * Mass attribute to a DAO * Mass mint ## b. Contribution Type The Contribution Types tab is a rollup view of the types of contributions you make often. Every time you create a contribution, you categorize that contribution with a high level contribution type. Over time, you're better able to digest all the contributions you make with the rollup view on this tab. # IV. Attestations The Attestations Page has 2 parts: 1. Attestation Feed (DAO Contributions) 2. My Attestations ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/HJbWg1s05.png) 👉 Tip: Try sorting the columns ## **a. Attestations Feed (DAO Contributions)** Feed of all attestations you can attest to. ## **b. My Attestations** A compilation of all contributions you have attested to. # V. Profile ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/Hys0Wqyfj.png) You'll add your username here and also find any integrations we have to automate recording of contributions! # VI. Integrations ## **Linear** Any ticket you move to 'done' in linear shows up in the portal as a "staged" contribution. ## **Twitter** (Coming Soon!) Coming soon! # VII. Where to access NFTs after Minting NFTs can be accessed in your wallet after you've minted them. All contributions are minted to [Gnosis Chain](https://blockscout.com/xdai/mainnet). # VIII. How your Records get sent to a DAO (if you choose) Govrn sends your records as CSV files and will work with you on your preferred method of delivery. # Learn more about Govrn ## 🌞 What is Govrn? Govrn is an open platform empowering both DAO contributors to record contributions and the communities to fairly value & reward those contributions. With Govrn, you are creating a bottom-up culture of governance by building a clear framework to define contributions, automate what your community views as ‘valuable contributions’, and have it be adopted across the entire ecosystem. We are on a mission to help make better DAOs. Value derives from all the work contributors provide. We are passionate in helping contributors be better contributors, see their impact, own their work and in turn make better DAOs. For the [TLDR](https://twitter.com/GovrnHQ/status/1564255455593074694?s=20&t=KMFvCEcWXzEZj7YwhyIxqg) version! 😉 ## 🛠 How does Govrn work? Govrn allows contributors to report their DAO contributions to our protocol, which then creates a record of your work that you own. In this way, we ensure that you “own your own contributions”, so that no matter what happens to your DAO, you always control your contributions. Once you have a record of your contributions, you’re able to submit or push your contributions to the appropriate DAO to be recognized for that contribution! ## 🌞 Welcome to the movement! And that’s it! You’ve now officially started owning your contributions and building your DAO from the bottom up. Contributions are the lifeblood of DAOs and Communities, and the more you contribute, the more you help the DAO thrive. We’re so happy to have you on this journey with us. If you have any thoughts or questions, please come join the Govrn Discord and let us know!
