Whether you hold MKR or DAI, own a vault, or want to get more involved in governance, this is your one-stop shop for MakerDAO updates._ Authors: @Alec, @Sol_Invictus and @Artem_Gordon <small>[Online PDF version](https://pdfhost.io/v/j.6fX.6rx_November_19_25_2022)</small> --- ## 🍿 **CURRENT EVENTS** ### Collateral Engineering Services #### Interim Facilitator Selection Summary On Monday, the week began with unfortunate news and several difficult decisions. @monkey.irish, the Core Unit facilitator of Collateral Engineering Services, has submitted [MIP41 (facilitator offboarding)](https://forum.makerdao.com/t/mip41c5-sp13-facilitator-offboarding-ces-001/18862) and [MIP39 (Core Unit offboarding)](https://forum.makerdao.com/t/mip39c3-sp6-core-unit-offboarding-ces-001/18863) for the SES Core Unit. His reasons for making this decision are not amicable, but that is a subject for another discussion. The purpose of this summary is to provide an update on the whole interim facilitator selection process as it currently stands. ##### 1. Mabel Tong & David Krett are nominated as co-interim facilitators In conjunction with the publication of MIP41: Facilitator Offboarding, Robert declared his support for the nomination of @zmtong and @dbckan as co-interim facilitators to assist in the offboarding of the CES Core Unit. GovAlpha responded to the nomination by posting an Interim Facilitator Ratification that summarizes the nomination process and includes an off-chain vote to gauge public support. ![](https://i.imgur.com/9xXRo34.png) ##### 2. The nomination of @lollike as interim facilitator @juan, facilitator of the SES Core Unit, proposed @lollike as [interim facilitator for the CES Core Unit](https://forum.makerdao.com/t/interim-facilitator-ratification-ces-001/18886/4). He explains his reasons for nominating. lollike has informed Mandated Actors that he will [withdraw his application](https://forum.makerdao.com/t/interim-facilitator-ratification-ces-001/18886/11) and urges them to support both Zmtong and Dbkcan as co-interim facilitators. Meanwhile, the Mandated Actors voted to support this transition of co-interim facilitators. Unfortunately, the candidates did not receive the requisite 10 votes to be ratified as interim facilitators; therefore, GovAlpha was required to initiate a [Fallback Nomination process](https://forum.makerdao.com/t/interim-facilitator-ratification-ces-001/18886/19) as described in MIP41c6. Juan has responded to the Fallback Nomination Process by nominating @Retro as the interim facilitator for CES. Retro [accepts the nomination](https://forum.makerdao.com/t/fallback-interim-facilitator-selection-process-ces-001/18911/7) and recognizes it as an opportunity to lead CES and execute their mandate by methodically leading the team in the right direction. ##### 3. Selection of a fallback interim facilitator Accordingly, GovAlpha [submitted a separate post](https://forum.makerdao.com/t/fallback-interim-facilitator-selection-process-ces-001/18911) to select an interim fallback facilitator for CES. A procedure of this nature has never been implemented in MakerDAO before. The process: - Facilitators currently elected had 24 hours to confirm their intention to opt-in or opt-out as potential nominees. - Anyone could volunteer for consideration in the voting process. The nominee is asked to confirm the nomination if they have been nominated by someone else. - Volunteers could propose themselves as co-interim facilitators. - Following the nomination process, active facilitators voted for nominees using the ranked-choice method (IRV) for one week. ##### 4. Further details to follow... Currently, we are waiting until [Thursday, December 1st,](https://forum.makerdao.com/t/fallback-interim-facilitator-selection-process-ces-001/18911/28) to receive the final vote results deciding on the nominated fallback interim facilitators. GovAlpha is collecting votes at [this link.](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GCvt0FVmwFT8hVGGb-GJDNBCa8-VRA7gqQ9-CUN0Htc/edit?usp=sharing) According to lollike and other voters, Retro should be appointed as the interim facilitator of CES. During this time, Juan modified his MIP41c4-SP40 to onboard @Nik0 as CES facilitator, initially used to onboard lollike before he withdrew. This proposal has yet to receive any public comments. So what now? Retro will most likely act as an interim facilitator for the Collateral Engineering Services Core Unit and assist with its wind-down to ensure a smooth offboarding process.
