# How to Make Maker Relay

> This document provides a starting point to help you understand what to include in Maker Relay, where to find the information you need, and how to publish and promote it.
>
> As with everything in MakerDAO, please feel free and encouraged to inject your ideas and creativity into this as you see fit.

## Step 1 - Let's Get You Set Up 💪

### Set up the Maker Relay Template

1. First things first; you'll need to set up an account on http://hackmd.io and open the [Maker Relay Template](https://hackmd.io/WVGGhweYTx6iid1BleXyqw?both).

2. Click the three dots on the right side of the navigation bar at the top of the screen and select "Save as template."

3. Then click the + button on the left side of the navigation bar at the top of the screen and select "Create a note from template."

4. Select the Maker Relay Template and click "Use this template."

### Create a Title Image

1. Next, here's where you can access the [Title Images](https://www.canva.com/design/DAD-_5ivxrM/share/preview?token=hB4x0k8cgn6dEEqJWJ82MA&role=EDITOR&utm_content=DAD-_5ivxrM&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=sharebutton).
2. Select or create a title image, download it, and upload it to [Imgur](https://imgur.com/). Copy the link from Imgur and paste it over line 3 of your Maker Relay document.

There support for DEXs is paid and other features might be worth a subscription.
- Curve fi charts are here (https://curve.fi/volumepercoin) but they consistently break. It's annoying because so much stabelcoin volumne trades through curve and we don't have visibility there.

- Just look at the price and highlight anything above or below a penny in either direction. Noramlly it's cause and effect, ETH goes down a lot DAI spikes as a large whale unwinds leverage last minute, etc.
- Where is DAI?

#### Nice to haves
- Exchange motion (inflows outflows)
- This is harder to find and you need premium API calls from santiment, nomics or some other aggregator.
- Arb-ing
- another nice to have. Significant amount of volume is trading bots that operate on large leveraged strategies. Would be nice to track the addresses and their jump from platform to platform. To assess which pair or coin they settle on.

General best trends to look for:

- Peg
- Supply
- Volume
- Exchange motion (inflows outflows)
- Price maxima minima
- Arb-ing
- Where is DAI?

Tips/tricks

- Add date of pegs so it's clearly timestamped information
- Check for dai price in relation to a dollar. Highlight any significant peg deviation and the long term trend underneath the deviation.
- Check price discontinuities and trade size for slippage
- Add total dai outstanding, amount of vault sizes, and collateralization of those vaults.
- Highlight liquidation walls at Dai amounts of 30 million. Black thursday needed that much liquidity so it's good to keep reminding vault users to avoid liquidations.
- Follow Vishehsh's statements from GnR meeting for nuance and clarification. Or for applicable statements about exogenous risk and secondary lending markets (avoid those topics if they don't make sense to the writer - you).

## Step 6 - See what the Community's Talking About

1. Summarize and link to any new articles relevant to governance from the [Maker Blog](https://blog.makerdao.com/).
2. Summarize and link to any interesting posts relevant to governance from the [Maker Forum](https://forum.makerdao.com/). ***Protip*** you can find the most popular threads by [searching top and weekly](https://forum.makerdao.com/top/weekly).
3. If you happen to come across some interesting discussion in [Maker Chat](https://chat.makerdao.com/home) or on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/MakerDAO) or [Reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/MakerDAO/) add it to the pinned content doc.
4. Check on reddit and sort by new to see the last 30 threads for interesting points, trying to highlight discussion that might get buried.
5. Use the [/quote=u/username][/quote] functionality in the forum for easier posting

## Step 7 - Meetings and Events

1. MakerDAO Open Calls typically stay the same but please include any new calls added to the rotation if you're aware of them.
- Make sure to update a link to this weeks Governance & Risk agenda.
- Add Collateral Call, this changes every week.
2. The best place to source Community Events is the [MakerDAO Events page](https://makerdao.com/en/events) and Hackthons can be found on [Google](https://google.com/) and other places.
