Dear colleagues,

next week the software group will start the migration of its repositories and its issues from Stash/JIRA to GitLab, aiming to complete it in one week.

During the migration the affected Stash repositories (basf2, externals, tools and versioning) and the JIRA Belle II Software project will be kept in read-only mode. After the migration, the software development (download of the code, opening of merge requests, opening of tickets) will continue on GitLab.

We plan to start the migration on Thursday 2nd March and to end it on Thursday 9th March. We will have a (short) review of the migration during the Software Developers meeting on Thursday 9th March.

Announcements about the actual start of the migration will be circulated via the software mailing list ([e-mail]). At the end of the migration, the location of the migrated repositories will be widely announced.

For the software developers: the software development will be suspended for the entire duration of the migration. Please note that the open pull requests will be automatically migrated to GitLab, so no manual actions are required.
