# Progressive Occupation This system is based entirely on roleplay-driven aspects of the game such as title and job position. This system will work by having characters that have set occupations and careers(within reason). Character positions would be persistent and would only be changed by IC means or admin intervention. There will also be a progression aspect to this. ## Persistent Jobs People would have persistent jobs within the game and these would only be changed by the Occupational Control System(OCS) which would be operated by the HoP or relative command member. This means that people would not "roll" for jobs, they would select the character and join the game as their set occupation. If they wanted to change this they would need to see the HoP for an Occupational Transfer. As we already have a very large amount of character slots this would not cause many issues with restriction and given the transfer process would be streamlined, I do not see this developing into an issue. ## Occupational Progression Everyone that is recruited for a job position would start at the bottom. Every department would have a hierarchical job progression structure, an example for the Research department: * Junior Researcher * Researcher * Senior Researcher * Lead Researcher * Research Director People would progress up the ranks by means of promotions by their superiors, e.g the lead researcher or research director could promote a Junior Researcher once their training has been completed. This process would require an authorisation note and an update in the OCS. The reason behind this is to promote self-preservation and to keep people within a certain field and reduce "Handy Joes", or people that just jump between and have no character backstory. **This would also hopefully help with the incompetent command being present a lot of the time.** People who roll traitor would be given their assigned department, though they would be given a lower rank automatically. ### Restricted Ranks Restricted ranks are positions of supreme importance, and they are as follows: * Captain * HoP * HoS * RD * CE * QM These job positions would be locked to 1 per shift. If someone tries to join on a character that has a job that is already filled by another in the round, they would automatically be set to the next lower available rank. ## Important notes People would not be locked into a job profession as they could just get transferred into a different department using the OCS with authorisation, however, they would have to start at the bottommost rank.
