*Use the following template when creating a project in the [Tasking Manager](https://tasks-assisted.hotosm.org/admin/edit-project/16)*
# Name of project
xxx, PH. Tabang-AI Road Mapping
# Short description/Description
**Add ALL local roads**. Validate Machine Learning (ML) detections where possible, and add any roads missed by the ML detection process, following [Philippine road-mapping conventions](https://osm.org/wiki/Philippines/Mapping_conventions/Roads).
This is part of OpenStreetMap Philippines' [Tabang-AI](https://github.com/OSMPH/Tabang-AI/) initiative in collaboration with the local government of xxx.

# Detailed Instructions
## Goal
Roads are mapped according to to their functional local role (economic and social), not in terms of their visibility/viability (e.g, asphalt, concrete,dirt road, etc).
The goal of this task is to improve local road data coverage, validate ML detections where possible, add any roads missed by the ML detection process, following [Philippine road-mapping conventions](https://osm.org/wiki/Philippines/Mapping_conventions/Roads). False positives are possible, make sure to validate and do the appropriate action.
This task is specifically for use with the [RapiD editor](https://mapwith.ai/rapid). Read through the [training documents](https://github.com/facebookmicrosites/Open-Mapping-At-Facebook/wiki) to learn how to use this Facebook fork of iD.
## Background Imagery
By default, you should use the background imagery from RapiD. In case you need to switch imagery, use either Maxar Standard or Premium backgrounds.
Align the imagery with existing roads or GPS traces using the **Adjust imagery offset** in RapiD (**Background** > **Adjust imagery offset**). Watch this [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Pcj_wFTHeE) to learn more.
Mark your task _only_ as **Bad Imagery** if it is either cloudy or if there are no high-resolution imagery available. On slower Internet connections, it takes a few moments for the imagery to load.
## Mapping Tips
### Classifying Roads
* *highway=secondary, highway=tertiary* : these are the main transportation routes that connect towns and larger villages.
* *highway=unclassified* : minor collector road, usually connecting barangays and remote settlments like sitios.
* *highway=residential* : in urban areas or rural villages, roads which serve as access to housing, without the function of connecting settlements. Often lined with housing.
* *highway=path* : travel route between dwellings, remote settlements, or water sources, and for livestock movement. May be the primary access route for isolated settlements. Connection way by foot within an urban area. **Not passable for vehicles with 4 wheels**.
* *highway=track* : access route from dwellings to fields, agricultural, and forestry areas.
* *highway=service* mainly private driveways or access roads to home or business.
If none of the above appear appropriate, or when in doubt use:
* *highway=road* : temporary road tag for later re-classification.
### Shortcut Keys
##### iD editor
* Toggle OSM data Wire/Fills - `W`
* Toggle OSM data - `Alt+W`
##### RapiD editor
RapiD includes hotkeys to accelerate the editing process.
* Hide/Show ML Roads - `shift + R`
* Cycle road types - `shift + C`
* Add selected ML feature - `A`
* Remove selected ML feature - `D`
* Highlight edited ways - `G`
### Other tips
**Improve road geometry** - When necessary, improve the alignment, and angles of existing roads and paths.
**Split roads** - You may be mapping different roads with varying classifications. Split your roads on crossings, and where the road classification changes.
**Connect roads to roads** - Always connect roads to other roads where they meet, and never attach roads on landuse or other polygon area edges.
**Map roads hidden under trees or shadows** - Short segments of a road or path that you cannot see through the trees/buildings/shadows but seem very likely to exist may be inferred, and should be mapped to ensure road network connectivity.
**Map a bit outside your square** - Map a little beyond your task square so the person who maps the task square next to yours can easily connect to the road you made.
**Do not ignore validation errors** - Do your best to fix all validation errors reported by RapiD before uploading your changes.
