# NSTP-CWTS
----
What comes to mind when NSTP-CWTS is mentioned?
----

----
The NSTP is aimed at enhancing civic consciousness and preparedness in the youth by developing the ethics of service and patriotism while undergoing training.
CWTS activities are contributory to the general welfare and the betterment of life for the members of the community.
----
## There are many ways to climb a tree
----

---
### MapaTime! - Boosting the digital Humanitarians
----
**MapaTime!** (formerly known as CWTS++) is a service-learning program of the MapAm❤re Initiative which provides a pragmatic, progressive learning experience to complement the NSTP service requirements for university students, in particular its CWTS component.
----
In lieu of regular CWTS activities, student-volunteers undergo special training sessions to become contributors to OpenStreetMap, co-creating Open data for the public commons, and working on projects relevant to local needs and benefitting local communities.
----

----
### Programme Objectives
----
* Gain appreciation for spatial (space, place, location) literacy and geography
* Develop a sense of civic duty and responsibility through active participation and teamwork
* Provide meaningful engagements that can broaden academic and career options
* Organize volunteer mappers who may be tapped any time, especially during (local/global) emergencies or aid in humanitarian relief efforts.
----
### Values we promote
* Excellence
* Transparency
* Integrity
* Openness
---
### Code of Conduct

----
Ideas and information are exchanged most effectively in an atmosphere free of abuse or harassment, and characterized by courtesy and respect. To that end, the activity organizers expects all attending individuals to conduct themselves in a manner that establishes an atmosphere free from discriminatory practices.
---
### So, what is it for you?
* Expand your personal, technical, and academic horizons
* Learning can be fun, while serving the community
* Meet and network with people from the local geo community
* As technically competent mappers, you can join future engagements as a trainer
* You can make this happen!
---
## Questions?
----
# If you can help others, would you?
----
# Are you interested in making a difference?
