# Better than imagined stories #betterthanimagined #gm ## 3 ## 2 I wouldn’t call myself a developer. I work in construction, mostly heavy machinery on roads, government union stuff. This does come with excellent health care for my wife and kids and I also have a pension, but I’ve been dabbling in JavaScript and reading about Solidity. My wife hates it when I spend my days off on the computer. My daughter is curious though. She brings a chair besides mine and asks questions. I should put the keyboard in front of her next time. I wonder what she’ll do! I don’t remember how I found my first DAO. It might have been from a forum, but I don’t know what I’d do without them. If I want to pull a thread or scratch an itch, there’s often a DAOist who’s willing to take a glance. It’s saved me many days by preventing detours. I might even contribute to some repos. That’ll probably impress my wife. ## 1 So, I’ve been wanting to do this since pre-pandemic, but once I flew out to EthDenver 2022, I haven’t been back home. I’m subletting my place to an old friend and living out of a backpack. Not shitting you. It’s fucking awesome! My next stops are MCON, EthBerlin and DevCon. That’s Denver to Berlin to Bagota. It’s fucking wild. I’ll probably stop at some friends’ places in between. Somewhere in that time, I’ll need to crank out some code for a couple of the many DAOs that I contribute to. But as long as it’s on time, no one cares where I am when I #buidl. We should meet up at some Eth event. I’m the one that looks like a cat and smells like a dog. ## 0 I was writing shitty content by the hour, the kind of blog and social posts that pollute the internet. My apologies, but a single mom’s gotta hustle. The first time I wrote lore was for the MolochDAO website, which of course needs demonic flavor text. I had such a good time. I will never dote as well as my son’s aunt and grandmother who have dedicated their time to their home. I will never provide or nurture as much as a two parent family. Earlier this summer, my son told me that he’s proud of me. He’s seen my struggle and searching. He knows what it was like before I worked in DAOs. I write lore for DAOs. I learn about communities and what is meaningful for them and then I craft stories to serve them.
