# The Secrets of studying: Study Less, Study Smart
I was browsing YouTube, a bit of MKBHD, a bit of Linus Tech Tips, when I came across a video titled [Study Less, Study Smart](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlU-zDU6aQ0). It had been sitting in the sidebar as a recommend video for a number of days, and I finally caved in and started to watch it.
I was only 8 minutes into the video and my mind was already blown. The very first tip he gives you is to break up studying into small chunks, and give your mind a reward during every interval. This technique was not unbeknownst to me, as I had heard of it before (Pomodoro timer and the sorts), but the way the lecturer (Marty Lobdell) put it across is simply amazing. I'm not going to put the entire technique in words here, as I simply encourage you to watch the video yourself.
The second technique he mentions is no less mind-blowing. He simply tells you a known problem (studying in your bedroom makes you feel sleepy after a while), and offers an amazing solution. I once again, am not going to spoil it for you here, but I have to say--simply brilliant.
As I continued to watch, I started to apply the knowledge I had gained into practice. I noticed that I was already starting to get bored. But this was a gem of a video, I couldn't miss the pearls to be gained. The solution, as a helpful comment dictated:

And yeah. This is me blogging about this amazing video in that pause.
