# Lab 2 – Configuring Connectivity
The HPE Virtual Connect interconnects support the following types of data center networks:
 Ethernet for data networks, including tagged, untagged, or tunnel networks. These types can also be internal networks.
– An internal network is a network that has no uplink ports and is used for server-to-server communications within a logical interconnect. Servers that communicate with each other over internal networks do so without the traffic egressing any uplinks.
– If network connectivity outside of the logical enclosure is required, the network must be in an uplink set associated with an uplink.
 Fibre Channel (FC) for storage networks, including fabric-attach (SAN), Fibre Channel (FC) connections, and direct-attach (flat SAN) Fibre Channel connections
 Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) for storage networks where storage traffic is carried over a dedicated Ethernet virtual LAN (VLAN).
Network sets are aggregated networking objects that contain tagged Ethernet networks.
When an HPE Synergy Image Streamer appliance is used for server provisioning, you also need:
 Management network – Connects the HPE Synergy Image Streamer and HPE Synergy Composer appliances to support managing the OS deployment server from HPE OneView.
 Deployment network – Required in an enclosure group to enable operating system deployment to servers from HPE Synergy Image Streamer.
 OS deployment server – Supports the deployment of plans that define the OS artifacts.
In this lab, you will practice creating several supported network types, connecting to the SAN storage systems, and creating volumes on attached storage systems.
Exercise 1 – Adding a SAN manager
To establish a connection with external 3PAR storage systems using fabric attach (later in the exercises), you must add the supported SAN managers which are managing the SAN switches.
SAN managers represent a connection to an external entity through which SANs are discovered and managed. The external entity can be vendor-specific management software or a physical switch.
NOTE: SANs are Fibre Channel (FC) or Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) storage area networks that connect servers to storage systems.
SANs are created outside of HPE OneView in the SAN manager interface. Once created, SANs can be discovered and managed in HPE OneView using the SAN manager resource.
In this environment, Cisco SAN switches are simulated. Follow these steps:
From the HPE OneView main menu, select SAN Managers.
