# QuantEcon Planning Meeting (2pm) ## SF India Project: First Planning Meeting ### Goals of Project **Workshop:** * 25 Students * In Person **Online Learning:** * platform capable of assesing up to 10K applicants * target economics and non-economics backgrounds (such as Math and Computer Science) * offer a completion certificate to the online course ### Key questions * What are the different parts of the project? * What timelines should we have in place? * (Urgent) Determine when workshop run in India? * When will workshop run? Work back from there? * What do we need to get onto straight away? * How will we divide up responsibilities? * How will we keep track of ideas? Planning software? ### General thoughts / questions * Any holes in the budget? * Local TAs for summer school are unpaid * Senior " " " " " * We want to select the "best" students --- but what does best mean? * How can we select those that want to do PhDs, not work on Wall St.? * What does Jim have in mind for a causal study? * How can we attract the largest / best group of students to the online course? * How should we prevent cheating on assessments? * Who will handle local logistics? * E.g., who will buy a summer school attendee their train ticket if they can't affort reimbursement? * E.g., who will handle catering? * How can we engage people downstream of our project? * predoc employers / academics * PhD intake committees * How can we get sufficient TA support at the summer school, given our budget? * What is the best time for workshops?
