# Seasons Of Life - Games for good ### Links My role in this group was to create a 2D environment background that could be used in the game, as well as creating the game in construct 3. As our game was about environmental justice I wanted to show the dirty negative side of a city environment for wild animals. I wanted to base the city off the industrial revolution as this point in time was when 1st world countries really started to pollute and destroy animal habitats. ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/rJ6kYT7f0.png) I created this Ai Photobash to show my general idea. As this situation is bad for lots of wild animals there are some that have now become part of the city. I have recently had the privilege to visit morocco where there an abundance of cats. In this culture they are very respected and loved, lots of them are fed and treated well but there are still lots which are cast away and not treated well. ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/B1-pZC7G0.png) As I did a bit more research I found out that a lot of wild animals are found in drainage systems. This link gives information on animals that are found. > https://ukdnwaterflow.co.uk/animals-found-drains-sewers-around-world/ I liked the idea of the environment being in the drain as I wanted the environment to make the player feel trapped, as this is how wild animals might feel. ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/SkcoRamzC.png) > Sewer system when they where brand new ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/ByQJ1AmzC.png) > Paris sewer museum ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/BJOghamzR.png) I created an Ai image to use for ideas ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/rJcnpTQMA.png) ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/S1yCTpQMA.png) > https://anokolisa.itch.io/deep-sewers This sewer pack I came across showed a lot of assets that I took inspiration from ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/H1Expp7zR.png) I created a wall to build on top of ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/B1VQa6Qz0.png) ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/Bk7ST6mM0.png) ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/HkGua67fA.png) I wanted to create a simple but recognisable background. ### Creating the game I quickly learned that making an endless runner that our team wanted to make requires the floor to be made out of blocks. This makes it a lot easier to create a floor that is not a distorted sprite. I communicated this to the team and created this. ![Block copy](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/rkBoMAXMR.png) I will use this for the floors. I was sent the menus and buttons for the menu which I created first then made my part of the environment as I have the assets. > Video link to working menu - https://youtu.be/ZdLTa8VCclc I added a restart menu at the end of the run, allowing the player to return to the start screen or restart the game. I also added a level menu letting the player eventually choose what level they want to play. > Video link to all working menus - https://youtu.be/HbHDoB6Bi9A I next added the QR code to the game. I tried to make the button direct straight to the URL but unfortunately could not work out how. > Video Link to donate video menu - https://youtu.be/QljCMm1oL3Y I added all the levels that the rest of the team had created and put them onto new layers, duplicating the city level. > Video link for each level working - https://youtu.be/cAYD8DXyKv4 In this project I learned how to create a repeatable background that can be used in a endless side scroller. I also learnt how to use construct 3 to create an endless 2D side scroller. if I were to redo this project I would have liked to be able to add more aspects to the endless runner, for example; coins to collect, enemies or obstacles, unfortunately the event cap in construct 3 provided a problem for this as I could not anything else to the game. Overall I think this game preview was a success as we showed all aspects that we set out to show in a professional manor.
