#### Adanced Question answering
稱得上進階的問答類型，作者舉出以下幾種：
- Proceduaul Questions
回答一系列指令或步驟，對提問者說明進行方法。
- Causal Questions
回答探究「為什麼」的因果問題。問題的題型通常為 「 Why P ?」
- Evaluative and Comparative Questions
需要做評估與比較的問題，作者舉的例子是「Ｘ 是否是一位創新的研究者？」這個問題要回答，必須對所指的特定對象 Ｘ 進行一個脈絡式的考察，並且結論出是否符合形容詞所指涉的語意。
- Opinion Questions
對一個論證要提出正反面的看法。

#### Discourse Semantics for Answering Questions
作者提出的言談分析框架中，有三個最重要的參數：
1. granularity - 要分析的細度
2. density - 給定細度層次後，決定需要保留的概念元素密度。
3. differentiation - 在兩個或更多的言談結構中找到足以區分的發音特徵或表達方法。
以言談分析的方法，作者提出了以下分析結構對應以上的進階問答問題：
- The Rhetorical Strucuture
- 應用在 'text coherence'，'natural language generation'
- The Causal Structure
四種動詞類型：(1) Implicative verbs (2) Effect verbs (3) Verbs supporting a cause (4) Instrument causes constructed from a verb combined with an instrument
