# Philly Foot Forward RCO Mission
We are dedicated to promoting the needs and interests of pedestrians in the neighborhoods that encompass the zip code 19147 in the vibrant city of Philadelphia. Our mission encompasses various aspects of urban life, including land use, zoning, development, preservation, and quality of life improvements such as clean streets and trees. We firmly believe that prioritizing pedestrian-centric policies and infrastructure not only enhances safety but also contributes to a more sustainable and livable city for all residents and visitors.
1. Pedestrian-Centric Land Use and Zoning: PFF advocates for land use and zoning policies that prioritize pedestrians by promoting walkable neighborhoods, mixed-use developments, and accessible public spaces. PFF aims to create an urban environment that fosters active transportation, encourages pedestrian-friendly amenities, and enhances community connectivity.
2. Thoughtful Development and Preservation:PFF actively engages with city planners, developers, and community stakeholders to ensure that new developments consider the needs of pedestrians. We advocate for design principles that prioritize pedestrian safety, convenience, and comfort, while preserving the unique character and historical significance of Philadelphia's neighborhoods.
3. Clean Streets and Beautification: PFF recognizes the importance of clean and well-maintained streets in creating a welcoming pedestrian experience. We collaborate with local authorities and community organizations to promote initiatives that address litter, improve waste management, and enhance the overall cleanliness of our streets. Additionally, we support efforts to enhance streetscapes through landscaping, street furniture, public art, and other aesthetic elements that contribute to a visually appealing and pedestrian-friendly environment.
4. Tree Canopy and Green Spaces: PFF advocates for the preservation and expansion of Philadelphia's tree canopy and green spaces. Recognizing the numerous benefits that trees provide, including shade, air purification, stormwater management, and visual appeal, we support initiatives aimed at increasing tree planting, native gardening, and pragmatic green space preservation. By prioritizing the integration of trees and green spaces into our urban landscape, we contribute to a healthier and more enjoyable pedestrian experience.
5. Pedestrian Safety and Micromobility (i.e., user of wheelchairs, strollers, bicycles, e-bikes, electric scooters, electric skateboards, and shared Indego bicycles): PFF strongly advocate for the safety and well- being of pedestrians and promote responsible micromobility practices that prioritize the safety of all road users. We strive to work collaboratively with local authorities, policymakers, and stakeholders to ensure that pedestrian and micromobility safety measures are integrated into transportation planning, infrastructure design, and traffic regulations.
6. Pedestrian Infrastructure and Micromobility Integration: PFF actively works to improve pedestrian infrastructure and create a supportive environment for micromobility. We advocate for the development of well-designed and accessible infrastructure, including sidewalks, bike lanes, shared micromobility parking, and safe crossing points. By encouraging the integration of micromobility options, we aim to provide efficient, sustainable, and inclusive transportation choices that reduce reliance on private vehicles.
7. Pedestrian and Micromobility Rights: PFF advocates for the rights and equal treatment of pedestrians and micromobility users. We work to ensure that laws, policies, and regulations prioritize the safety, accessibility, and equitable access to pedestrian spaces and micromobility services. Additionally, we support efforts to educate and raise awareness among the public, drivers, and policymakers regarding the rights and responsibilities of pedestrians and micromobility users.
