Hi, my name is Fandi Azam Wiranata. I am majoring in telecommunication engineering at Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia. I am very grateful that I have opportunity to do internship in Broadband Multimedia and Wireless Research Laboratory at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.

In this internship I have a topic about Mosaic 5G over Kubernetes. As telecommunication engineering student, this is new topic for me. I haven't learn anything about 5G before this internship, so I started from zero. In this internship, I have opportunity to install Open Air Interface or OAI, learn to attach a SIM card to OAI network, and try the SIM card in a cell phone. Furthermore, I tried to implement the network automation using Kubernetes for automating application deployment, while using Openshift Operator as a tool to manage 5G services. This operator lets us deploy all Mosaic 5G inside our pods. In this Mosaic 5G operator,especially in costum resouce, I define the composition of core network, Radio Access Network (RAN), FlexRAN, elasticsearch,and kibana (as data visualization). For this purpose, we use the containerized OpenAirInterface (OAI) to deploy the network and demonstrate the automatability with extensive slicing radio support.

In this internship, I also learn how to make a daily plan and daily evaluation. I think this daily routine is important, because we can know what to achieve in one day and measure our accomplishment in that day too. I also learn how to work in a team, present my outcome and discuss problem (if there is any) every week in the weekly meeting. The people in BMW Lab is so nice and helpful. They often offer me a hand when I face problem or do not understand something.Last, I am happy that I able to make network in NTUST. especially, thanks lots for Prof. Ray and Nadhif as my Supervisor and my mentor, repectively. Hope next time, we can meet each others. and thanks for everyone in BMW Lab.
