#### Progress update per EESSI layer

##### Filesystem layer

- when would we change the default version of the EESSI module from 2023.06 to 2025.06?
- unclear which change in Lmod results in incompatibility between Lmod cache created with new Lmod being incompability with old Lmod
- comment by Kurt: can modify Lmod easily to make it write its (user) cache file somewhere else, could maybe help with this
- ~650GB of disk space required today for full mirror of EESSI repos
- software.eessi.io is largest, split across repos is unclear (but dev.eessi.io and riscv.eessi.io are quite small)

##### Compatibility layer

- would be nice to get revised symlink for exposing NVIDIA GPU drivers deployed before we build/ingest CUDA & co for EESSI 2025.06
- would avoid that sysadmins need to re-expose GPU drivers for new versions of EESSI, since symlinks would be shared across EESSI versions;
- Bob/Caspar will pick up on this
- should start thinking about what needs to change in compat layer for upcoming EESSI version
- Bob will open a dedicated (support) issue on this to start collecting ideas

- RISC-V: docs need to be updated to mention `dev.eessi.io/riscv` repo (next to old `riscv.eessi.io` repo)
