If I understood correctly, you want to use mana as (transaction) weight such that the reputation/mana of a node directly correlates with the weight of the transaction that this node publishes. This in turn means that a "richer" (in terms of mana / moved IOTA tokens) node can issue transactions with higher weight, correct? Since all monetary systems (including IOTA, see https://thetangle.org/statistics/tokens-distribution) are pareto distributed, and therefore eventually most tokens will be in the hands of very few owners, and therefore most mana will accumulate within very few nodes, wouldn't that lead to a strong centralization/concentration of "issued tx weight" within half a handful of nodes? ``` --- ``` Hans Moog [IF]2019/11/16 mana is based on tokens owned currently the exchanges and a few large whales control a lot of funds this is the case in most cryptocurrencies maybe even all once we start seeing crypto being used in every day life this will change having a system that is "designed" around a few well known entities is not future proof (like EOS) having a system that "just happens to have a few large entities now" can adopt and is fit for the future so what is important is that you design a system that can work in a completely decentralized manner if the current economic realities happen to make it more centralized then you would like it to be, then there is not really much you can do about it thats external forces mana at least doesnt make the rich richer like other POS systems the most important aspect of mana being a "dynamic system" rather than some hardcoded list of validators is that you can shard and every shard can have its own "high mana holders" ``` ###### tags: `coordecide`
