# 2009-FSA-RM-WEB-FT Final JR Phase Retrospective
## What was a lesson / workshop thta really made things click for you?
* Study Saturdays (x2)
* Idk, every Monday / Tuesday, I felt really lost, but then things started to click on Friday / Saturday when I was doing the checkpoints.
* Week 3 was an big aha moment
* Intro to React + Redux
* It was a struggle at first, Redux wasn't intuitive at first, but in JPFP it was great to see how it all fit together.
* Pillars was great, cause the week with databases was really hard. Glad that we got the signal that it's okay if we don't totally get it right away.
## What advice would you give to future JR students?
* Take more breaks. I totally get tunnel vision if I don't.
* Natalie: how do you feel about short breaks vs long breaks? E.g. "don't code on Sundays?"
* Yeah, I thought it was good to just play video games on Sunday and before bed. I also went to the gym when stuck, and that helped.
* Slow down a bit and read things carefully.
* Getting it that day is not always possible. Make sure you take care of yourself outside of class, give yourself time to let it sink in. Don't code past midnight.
* The instructors / fellows were really helpful in office hours.
* It's good to ask questions out loud. Sometimes, it helps to discuss things when trying to understand something new.
* It's hard to stare at a computer for too long. Helps when you get enough sleep.
* Office Hours!
* Morning Reviews! Sometime, I think I understand something, but I didn't.
* Get to know people! Ask questions about their background, make some small talk, build a relationship with your partner.
* Don't be ashamed to admit you don't understand something. Lean on your pair partner to explain things.
* Planning and communicating will save debugging time later.
## Shoutouts?
* Yay instructors!
* All the fellows! So many wonderful help tickets.
* Josie asked really good questions.
* Zasch, Winson, Nancy: asked if we're doing okay, checking in.
* Christian: Also, my fellow was great at checking in and making sure I was okay.
* People whose technical communication grew a lot over time. Received feedback to slow down during workshops and they acted on it.
* Bobby was a great fellow. He reached out when I didn't submit a checkpoint, but in a really nice & supportive way.
* Christian was a really encouraging pair partner.
* Shoutout to Travis who stayed up late setting up my Postgres on Linux (right before his vacation too).
