# The United Party; Information and Elections
> This HackMD will give the information about the party and its nominee process.
## The Unitedk Party
The United Party was founded in November, 2020, by Dribbleware. The United Party is not affiliated with any other parties in or outside of Roblox, and doesn't associate its poicies with any other parties either in or outside of Roblox. The Party was founded by Dribbleware as a party that could be used as a platform for change in the State of Mayflower. Although there are party policies, future nominees and candidates have the option to implement their own policies to their campaign; in short, candidates and nominees are not fully restricted on their policies. The United Party was designed to listen to the people of Mayflower - not just government officials and popular people. This party is not affiliated with any groups outside of Roblox except the State of Mayflower.
## Nominee vs Candidate
In the United Party, there are two different positons: Nominees and Candidates. A nominee is someone who is running to become the candidate to represent the party in the elections.
**EXAMPLE**
JohnDoe runs as a nominee for the position of the Gubernatorial Candidate.
***A nominee is not running for the Gubernatorial race under the party, but they are running for the chance to become the candidate for the Gubernatorial race.***
**Limit of Gubernatorial Nominees allowed: ∞ (for the position of Governor; Lt. Governor is confirmed as a nominee if Governor counterpart wins candidacy.)**
**Limit of Senatorial Nominees allowed: ∞;
Limit of Senatorial Candidates allowed: ≤4;**
## Primary Elections
At least two (2) week before elections for the positions (Gubernatorial or Senatorial) take place, individuals wishing to run in the elections under the party must register in #primary-registry. This channel is only visible one week before primary elections. They must use the following template:

Answer:
Each time the registry opens, a new question will be posted for the potential nominee to answer.
Any individual who registered as a nominee will be added to the list of nominees runing for the chance to represent the party as a candidate. There must be at least 8 nominees or more for the Senate race and 4 or more for the Gubernatorial race. They will then have the opportunity to post their campaign in #primary-campaigns, which will only be open for the duration of the six (6) days, where it will open the Suday of that week. After which, a poll will be started for the public to answer: Who do they want to be their candidates? The top four or less (≤4) will be chosen to run as candidates to represent the party in the Senatorial race.
## Policies
As aforementioned, the party doesn't fully restrict candidates and nominees to specific policies; however, there are rules pertaining to policies that are important to note.
#### Rules on Policies
Nominees and Candidates are allowed to make their own policies, however,
1. Each Nominee or Candidate must have at least two policies of the United Party in their campaign, or else they shall either be disqualified or replaced.
2. Policies should be made with the idea to further the push for equal treatment of all in justice, public offices, government departments, and the private sector.
###### 2a: While rule 2 is a bit confusing, it basically means that your policies *should* be to benefit everyone; however, you are perfectly allowed to have policies which would only affect one or two seperate fields or departments (i.e. a reform on LETI leadership, making it easier for business owners to run their businesses)
3. Make sure to check with the chair of the Policy Committee before adding your own policies; this is to ensure that your policies are in good faith and don't violate any rules regarding policies. If the chair is not available (offline at the time, or hasn't responded within a timely manner), contact a member of the Policy Committee.
4. Policies shouldn't be based on developer issues. Examples include, but are not limited to: pushing for developers to add new guns, pushing to expand the size of West Point; however, policies such as pushing to expand the jurisdiction of the Plymouth Police are acceptable.
#### Party Policies
1. Term limits. The United Party advocates and strongly supports the idea of term limits for everyone holding public offices in which they were elected to. Having term limits can further expand the diversity of who is in office. This allows freshness to the Senate and Gubernatorial chairs.
###### 1a. Senatorial and Gubernatorial term limit should be 2 terms.
###### 1b. Therefore; Members who successfully win primaries may only run once and rerun once. After which, they will no longer be eligibile to run under the party.
###### 1c. The role of Lieutenant Governor holds no term limit under the United Party.
2. Gun prices. The United Party supports upping the prices of guns in order to limit down on the large amount of gun violence in the State of Mayflower.
3. Re-implementing part-time employees.
4. Legal protection for the press.
## Primary Campaign Rules
As you may already know, most parties hold primaries to elect who will represent the party in the elections. We also follow this practice.
In order to run in the party primaries, you must meet the following:
1. Be a citizen of the State of Mayflower,
2. Be qualified to run for the position (Gubernatorial or Senatorial),
3. Be committed to working with the party to enact party policies alongside personal parties.
If a nominee is elected from primaries, but fails to qualify in the State of Mayflower as a candidate, said candidate will be replaced by appointment from the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Party Manager.
In order to register for party primaries, refer to the above section *Primary Elections*
It is not required to hire campaign staff, or much less to have a campaign Discord server.
### Campaigning Rules
### Your campaign cannot exceed 800 characters.
Just as the campaign rules in the State of Mayflower, your campaign must be less-than or equal to eight-hundred characters (800). If your campaign exceeds the character rule, you will be removed from the primary race.
### Using threats as a campaign technique is strictly forbidden.
If you are reported or caught using threats such as your position in Mayflower, blackmail, etc. you will not only be disqualified, but banned and blacklisted from the United Party, along with being reported to the Mayflower Moderation team.
### Avoid language.
Please avoid using language in your campaigns. While I understand language is allowed in the server in general, language shows unprofessionalism and will result in you being disqualified from the primaries.
### Do not chat in #primary-registry or #primary-campaigns.
Violating this rule will cause you to be disqualified from the race.
### Do not post more than eight (8) campaign messages within a span of 12 hours.
Breaking this rule will result in your being disqualified from the race.
An example is: Someone posts a message at 9 AM EST. Let's say they post nine messages before 9:01 PM EST. This will cause them to be disqualified.
### Posting outside of prescribed times is prohibited.
Doing so will result in your being disqualified. The prescribed times will be listed in #primary-campaign.
### Refrain from any NSFW images in your campaign.
Pretty self-explanatory. You will be banned and blacklisted from running in the United Party.
### Avoid posting invites unless its to your campaign server.
You will be disqualified for posting links to other servers not pertaining to your campaign.
