--- title: Virology rework (by Cursed) --- # Virology rework (by Cursed) Current state is virology at /tg/ is pretty mediocre. Viro is fun only for few rounds as only at that time you are learning how to make virus and rest of them is just using virus templates you made. Once virus is done viro is pretty much jobless. They are not even needed to make vaccine as chemist can just make cure and distribute it. The only moment viro is needed if virus spreads fast and you need something that can quickly remove virus. By that i mean usage of 0.1u pills instead of 5u. As 0.1u pill made from vaccine will remove virus while normal chemist made cure has a % chance to heal every tick. To change that i though if reworking few things that would force viro outside of their cave and nerf chemist ability to cure viruses. ## New virus curing system - Viro will have to cut virus into one symptom pieces to make vaccine for that symptom only. After doing that for every symptom they can stuff them all back into pandemic which combine them all into one big cure that will cure that specific virus combination. - Chemist will also be no longer able to cure virus but instead be able to temporarily neuter specific symptoms using different chems - Resistance will lost most of its function as result but will remain to keep virus ability to override another virus while also contributing to thresholds ## Possibility to find new symptoms Viro currently has access to almost all symptoms roundstart. Other ones that you need to gather few mats are not that really used as they are quite situational and one is even hated by most people. I plan to change that by keeping small number of symptoms available at roundstart. They will still be able to make a good virus out of them but they will need to use new tool to get new symptoms. Currently i still have no idea about name. Viro tool is supposed to have two function which one is ability to gather piece of organism and analyze it to gather symtpoms. This also include specific organisms like megafauna or specific antags like space dragon or changeling. Example. Using new tool on roach or its remains will give you Self Respiration. ## Virus empowering So another thing that tool can do is to gather empowerments for viruses by adding new abilities to specific symptoms. Since i used roach as example in previous section i will do it again. Just like i mentioned it in symptoms megafauna and specific antags will also give special empowerments. Example. Using that tool on roach will also give you empowerment for Metabolic Boost which will change rate of metabolism into instead increasing effect of all chems by speed of metabolism(subject to possible change if it sounds too strong). So you will consume normal amount of chems but they will have stronger effect. ## New viro tool So new tool is supposed to to have two functions - First one is to get new symptoms - Second one is to get virus empowerements ## Symptoms combos So for people who not played Plague Inc. That game has symptoms combos which increases effect of virus. I want to add that to ss13 viro system by allowing at least one or two symptoms combo for each symptom. This could end up with some funny combos for both nonantag and antag viro. ## Conclusion Viro really needs a rework to its stuff as viro always ends up as discount doctor or chemist(sometimes not even as chemist as some maps does not give viro access to big chemistry lab(the one where you make factory)). Intention is to give viro something to do after you make that virus or make them scavenge station in search for organism to take samples off to make better virus while also making viro a vital for making cure ## List of symptoms and empowerments from specific organism To be filled ## List of symptoms combos To be filled
