New a Drawable resource file:

### 2. Step2: Set Up Item, Shape and Gradient
>**Note:**
>Inside Gradient, you will havw many selections. In this case, I used two colors, however, if you want three colors, then you will just need to use centerColor.
>[color=#187fce]
**XML code:**
``` java==
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
<item>
<shape>
<gradient
android:angle="90"
android:startColor="@color/gradient_start"
android:endColor="@color/gradient_end"
android:type="linear"/>
</shape>
</item>
</selector>
```
### 3. Set XML to your Layout!
In my case, I used Linear Layout as my Layout background.
In order to set gradient XML to it, we set it as its background:
``` java==
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:background="@drawable/background_gradient"
tools:context=".LoginActivity"/>
```
