# Factions of Moffstation ## NanoTrasen Nanotrasen saw it's early lead on the frontier with the discovery and exploitation of the exotic chemical Plasma. Research into plasma has long since catapulted the company from a simple manufacturing firm to a billion dollar company, with many divisions ranging from mining to research. The plasma hype has long since died off, but Nanotrasen continues to research newly discovered artifacts and anomalies unique to the frontier. ### Nanotrasen Mining Division One of the first major divisions of the frontier, Nanotrasen's mining division was the backbone of the company's early success, having almost complete control over the supply of the ellusive plasma. Many divisions exist exclusively in service of the mining division. However, since the plasma rush died off, the mining division is more of a shell of it's former self. Although still profitable, the exponential growth it once had has long since flattened off. Much of the equipment in use is dated and aging, even if it was cutting edge at the time. ### Nanotrasen Arms Division Originally a spinoff of the Nanotrasen Mining Division focusing on development of portable, robust solutions to the various hazardous fauna in space, the Nanotrasen Arms Division heavily invested in the development of energy based weapons since it's inception. Taking advantage of plasma research, Nanotrasen's energy weapons have carved out their own market nieche for various "less than lethal" and lethal capacities. However, it's kinetic weapons programs have lagged behind that of syndicate factions due to market manipulation. Their most successful kinetic firearms are not of inhouse design, instead licensed from other companies - with the exception of the WT-550, being their first true breakthrough. ### Helio Logistics Nanotrasen's major partner, Helio Logistics is a well respected shipping company with a sprawling fleet of heavy freighters, designed to handle the vast distanced between the core systems and the spinward sector. Helio's influence is sparse on the frontier, but they remain critical in maintaining the link between Nanotrasen's operations and it's customers. ### Aussec Aussec is one of Nanotrasen's major weapons contractors. Notable for the development of the Lecter and security bolas, which are now licensed for Nanotrasen Manufacturing. ### Scarborough Arms Scarborough Arms is one of Nanotrasen's major weapons contractors. Notable for the development of the Drozd, Kamerrer and Enforcer. Scarborough has much influence in core systems and beyond. ### TB Engineering Firm TB Engineering Firm operates in tandem with Nanotrasen's construction division to construct and maintain new stations and ships on the frontier. ## Syndicate The syndicate consists of a collection of factions with one common enemy - Nanotrasen. Although diverse and with differing goals, the factions of the syndicate begrudgingly work together in an effort to fight against Nanotrasen influence and destroy it, often by any means necassary. ### Cybersun Industries Nanotrasen's only real competitor, originating from old earth, Cybersun Industries was already a well known name by the time Nanotrasen begun it's rise to power. Even since early days, the companies have butted heads over patent disputes and it's an open secret that there are numerous incidents of plagerisation between both companies. Where Cybersun fell behind was during the discovery of plasma. While Nanotrasen quickly worked to secure and exploit the resource, Cybersun found itself outcompeted by Nanotrasen's aggressively expansionist stance. Even today, Cybersun's research with the substance is stunted by decades. However, they are not to be underestimated. Cybersun remains a formidable opponent with many competing products and industrial might. ### Interdyne Pharmacuticals Interdyne Pharmacuticals stands at the forefront of medical development, and is responsible for many of the greatest breakthroughs in medical research, many of which Nanotrasen has since plagerised. Interdyne is funded by their numerous lines of medical drugs. A portion of these funds are directed to numerous private clinics and hospitals throughout the core systems, providing cheap and high quality care for the masses. However, this altruism is a front for Interdyne's darker underbelly.
