# Influence Crew Market - Education This is the second in a series stepping through the crew market for [Influence](https://www.influenceth.io/). For those not familiar, please reference the [Crew Member Jobs list on the official wiki here](https://wiki.influenceth.io/en/gameplay/crew-members). Check out other installments in this series [here.](https://hackmd.io/@Coldsnap) Today I'll run through the Education department, which clearly will be fundamental to upskilling efforts across the Adalia system. Caveat: at time of writing, official confirmation of bonuses for job titles etc has not yet been released, so much of this is speculative. I'll look to re-do the analysis again once we have this. Also the figures and ETH prices mentioned were accurate only at the time of writing, so likely to be rapidly outdated as the market moves and new crew are minted. Hoping to share some nice alpha for those who are quick to these posts. ### Numbers Education is one of the smaller departments in Influence. There is a big reduction in counts between Education and the three rarest departments. Current counts (as at time of writing): | Department | Count | | ----------- | ----------- | | Navigation | 120 Management |182 Knowledge |195 Education |411 Engineering |414 Security |447 Medicine |466 Food Preparation |508 Technology |616 Arts & Entertainment |632 Food Production |729 Maintenance |833 Logistics |847 Education job role numbers are still quite low in comparison to the more populous departments. Only 19 T1s and T4 is ~200. The larger departments range into 300+ T4s: |Tier| Job |Total | Specialists|Citizens| | ----------- | ----------- | -- | -- | -- | | T1 | Distinguished Professor |19 | 3 | 16 T2 | Professor |60 |15 |45 T3 | Teacher |127 | 38| 89 T4 | Teaching Assistant |206 | 23|183 ### T1 - Distinguished Professor |Tier | Class| Job | Total | Specialists|Citizens| | ----------- | ----------- | -- | -- | -- |--| | T1 | Miner| T1 |Engineer | T1 |Merchant | T1 |Scientist |Distinguished Prof | 18|3|15 T1 |Pilot |Distinguished Prof |1||1| The Education department's T1 is pretty special. With only 19 in the game, Distinguished Professor is the sixth rarest job title in Influence (out of 56). For those looking to put together a research-focussed crew, this is going to be one of the cornerstone roles, so should be constant demand throughout the lifespan of the game. Count yourself fortunate if you have one of these, let alone one of the three Dist Prof Specialists. Almost all Distinguished Professors are Scientists, which is nicely thematic... aside from the lone Pilot / Distinguished Professor. I absolutely love that the Pilot is a unqiue 1/1. Certainly one to hodl closely. There are a number of Distinguished Professors on sale at the moment. The cheapest is hovering around 1.4-1.5 ETH, which feels like a fair price for them given how rare they are. We will have to wait and for bonus specifics and game evolution as to how these price out in the long term. Unsurprisingly the Pilot has not yet ever been listed on secondary. ### T2 - Professor |Tier |Class| Job | Total | Specialists|Citizens| Floor| | ----------- | ----------- | -- | -- | -- | -- |--| | T2 | Miner| T2 |Engineer |Professor | 20|7|13 |0.8| T2 |Merchant | Professor | 19|4|15 |0.35| T2 |Scientist |Professor | 17|4|13| 0.67| T2 |Pilot |Professor |4||4|3.8| With 60 Professors to spread around, we see the first Education roles assigned to Engineer and Merchant classes. In fact there are more Engineer and Merchant Professors than there are Scientists. We've also got 4 Pilots at T2, yet still no Pilot Specialists Bargain-wise, there could be one to be had with Merchant / Professors. Floor for these is currently 0.35 ETH, whereas Scientists and Engineers are at 0.67 ETH and 0.8 ETH respectively. Floor for Pilot / Professor is a weighty 3.8 ETH, currently - which makes sense given how rare they are. These prices compare favourably to prices vs the T3 role (see below). In my view Professors are generally undervalued right now. ### T3 - Teacher |Tier | Class| Job | Total | Specialists|Citizens|Floor| | ----------- | ----------- | -- | -- | -- |--|--| | T3 | Miner| Teacher | 33|10|23|0.18 T3 |Engineer |Teacher | 32|10|22| 0.15 T3 |Merchant |Teacher | 25|8|17|0.1 T3 |Scientist |Teacher |8|4|4|0.8 T3 | Pilot|Teacher |29|6|23|0.27 The T3 role of Teacher appears across all classes - finally got some Miners. Strange to me that Scientists are the rarest of T3 Education classes, but that's the RNG for you. I would point out that there is a lone Pilot / Teacher sitting there waiting to be had for 0.27 ETH right now, which is a much lower price than the cheapest Scientist / Teacher (0.8 ETH), and fairly low for Pilots overall, despite being T3. Bargain imo. ### T4 - Teaching Assistant |Tier |Class| Job | Total | Specialists|Citizens|Floor| | ----------- | ----------- | -- | -- | -- |--|--| | T4 | Miner|Teaching Assistant | 63|7|56|0.03 T4 |Engineer|Teaching Assistant | 38|2|36| 0.06 T4 |Merchant |Teaching Assistant | 38|4|34|0.04 T4 |Scientist |Teaching Assistant |27|4|23|0.2 T4 |Pilot |Teaching Assistant |40|6|34|0.3 Education at T4 is kind of weird. Numbers-wise they are not that much more numerous than T3, and prices are not that far apart. Look at the Pilot / TA sitting at 0.3 ETH vs Pilot / Teach (T3) at 0.27 ETH. ### Summary To sum up, those looking to run dedicated research crews are likely going to want these. The time to buy is certainly now with reasonably available supply and quite a few at high tiers sitting there on the market waiting to be bought. This is not like Navigation or Management where crew are hard/impossible to come by. Very early attempt at theorycrafting a dedicated science crew (non-tier specific): * 3 x from Education and Knowledge departments (but be wary of bonuses that won't be able to stack) * 1 x Technology * 1 x Management or Food Prep Otherwise I expect most players will be looking to incorporate 1x Education to their crews where they feel the need to boost their skills/levelling. Another possibility is a player may have a crew member with an Education role tacked on to the class they are needing to deploy otherwise (eg Miner/Teacher in an mining-focussed crew). I think that's where we will see obscure class/job combos coming to the fore. Looking forward to seeing how this will all work in-game.
