# Galactic Government: Orion Confederation
## Introduction
Born from the cradle of humanity, the Orion Confederation is a coalition of human worlds spanning much of the space of the Orion Spur. A constitutional government, the Orion Confederation was built from the reformed governments of Terra alongside the now independent governments of Luna and Mars. They are relative newcomers to the galactic stage compared to the likes of the Skrell Federation, yet their presence cannot be denied; humanity spread to the stars, ensuring their prosperity by choking the stars with the living.

The Orion Confederation is heavily expansionist, with new frontiers established regularly.

## Government
The Orion Confederation is a decentralized supranational collective consisting of most human colonies, planets, and governmental agencies. Each entity at a national holds a level of representation in its affairs.

The main governmental installation is **Unity,** a colossal space station constructed between Earth and Mars, which acts as the confederation's bureaucratic heart.

The confederation has a tiered system of governance, with **Trade, Military Collaboration,** and **Foreign Affairs with other galactic powers** managed by the highest level, and other affairs being handled at the starsector and system level.

## The Orion Defence Compact
Military Treaties between human nations and disparate groups have existed for centuries, perhaps even millenia. The Orion Defence Compact (ODC) is that concept taken to the interstellar level. Formed in 2198 alongside the Orion Confederation, the ODC is a set of treaties and an overarching organization that bands the disparate militaries of Humanity’s holdings together under a single banner. This organization governs rules of engagement, the laws of war, and standardization and co-operation of humanity’s equipment and military organization.
