# Power and Atmospherics ## Current state/what's being worked on ### Putnam As of right now, Putnam is working on the whole porting monstermos/c++ atmospherics thing, so expect frequent changes on that. I believe we're having some issues with temperature conduction (citation needed) but it's been going well and it's really good for server performance. - **On hold until further notice, as I believe Putnam is on break right now** ### Kevinz000 As of right now, I'm working on a pipenet refactor. I'll save you the nitty gritty codernerd details of all that entails (although for any coders reading this, I'm making atmospherics have much better procedures for connecting and separating from other devices, hopefully leading to better stability, and some efficiency upgrades for pipenets.) What you need to know is: - I am adding support for components to directly attach to pipe networks. This means they will share the same instant conduction properties as regular pipes, and operate directly on pipenet air instead of relying on how pipenets run air volume equalization on all components every tick to "give" them air to work with. - This means these components work *way* faster. Like, I will actually have to readjust formulas for stuff like pumps, probably, to make them not too overpowered. - End of the day, this means no more waiting 20 minutes to drain distro, and filters and mixers will work a bit faster. Valves will more or less behave the same (even if they're causing me a great deal of stress as surprisingly dealing with valves being a thing is a huge task code-wise if you don't want to do it in a laggy way, and obviously I want to optimize for CPU whenever possible for pipelines...) - **On hold until a certain person gets back to me on the backend part of my plans, but this is more or less happening one way or another, regardless of what form of code it'll end up using.** Might have atmospheric instability as I patch things but, it'll happen sooner or later. - I will be taking cracks at other things in this document sooner or later (probably sooner, depends on how burned out I am in a week or two as I'm also workin on some other drafts). ## Summary ### Atmospherics ### Engineering - Power
