# Research plan (BAQIS)
# Topological quantum computation
* Microscopic device simulation of semiconductor-ferromagnetic insulator-superconductor heterostructure in order to understand and optimize the topological properties of the hybrid system.
* Microscopic device simulation of a generic trijunction devices, in order to optimize the pairwise coupling between Majoranas and understand the effect of gating.
* Numerical simulation of the transport properties of a semiconductor-superconductor heterostructure (e.g., tunnel conductance spectroscopy in an NS junction, supercurrent in an SNS junction) to understand the electronic properties of the junction or device (number of subbands, extent of disorder, effect of orbital effect of magnetic field, etc.).
* Study topological superconductivity and Majorana zero modes in new materials (e.g., gapless superconductivity, planar Josephson junctions).
# Spin-qubit quantum computation
* Microscopic device simulation of a generic spin-qubit device with an array of quantum dots in order to understand and optimize the device performance in various device geometries.
# Discussion with Anton:
- expectations from the hiring committee: typical thing they want to learn: have an idea about what to do. How prior work correspond to research plan. plan is not just listing projects. Coherent presentation what will happen.
- Story: intersted in MZM, in simulation, spin-qubit, work with experimentliast, more of the same(elaborate)
- not just saying, instead a narrative. Perform a high-level work. One possible angle: toy model to realisitic model.
- theme/direction (context): what to do in genreal
- project idea: you can do a specific project
- spend half page explaining my background skills, trajectory, remaining: different research directions, multiple aspect of MZM, with specific projects
- whole thing brings us to qubits because of funding: good to show that you are interested in qubits
- three parts: majorana devices, spin-qubit, majorana qubits to relate different project.
- things coming up at interview: relationship/difference from previous group.
