# Confidential ERC-20 Standard

Development on Confidential EVM differs significantly from Transparent EVM chains (such as Ethereum, Polygon etc.) because the smart contract is responsible for keeping transaction information and balances confidential.

## Use Cases / Scenarios

The token standard should take the following scenarios into account when defining access control methods and enabling third-party transfers.

* View transaction history
* Notification upon new payment received
* Provide access to transaction history and current balance to crypto tax calculators, but only for specific tokens
* Smart contracts with an allowance can see your balance (up to their allowance)
* Allow third-party transfers
