# Post Event Report [CodeDay Hyderabad] [14-11-2022] ## Attendance :dancers: *Was it well attended? Was there a diverse attendance in terms of gender, socio-economic class, race? Who was attending - students/professionals/a mix?* ![IMG_4888](https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/53075480/201967311-d18b1c35-8ea9-4da6-946a-d315f0b166b5.jpg) The hackathon outperformed it's attendance expectations. On day 1 we had 198 attendees with initial expectation of 160. Day 2 saw a fine hit on spot with 150 hackers checked in. There's been a good mix of diverse gender and experience among attendees. We had 2 teachers present at the venue as mentors too. ## Venue :school: *Any comments on the venue, did it work well? Include links to the location if you like.* The venue was large enough to contain the excess attendees on Day 1. Connecting Wifi to hackers was an issue on Day 1 but Day 2 was smoother. The venue was extremely satisfied with the goals and execution of the event and has proposed extended support for more iterations of CodeDays. The venue sponsors have also pitched to provide Computers to underrepresented participants in future events. ## Planning vs Implementation :paperclip: *Did the schedule change? Or run over?* *Did you have enough swag? Did everything get to you on time and did anything not get taken by your attendees?* *Also think about including thoughts on your budget (if you were involved in this side of the event), did it work well? Was there any room for better cost saving? Anything that wasn't worth it?* *Were there any additions?* *You can also use this section to note anything that wasn't in your original issue.* *This might not be the case, but it's useful to note if you needed to run out and buy something to support the event or order food or anything outside of what you expected to deliver - even if that is not related to purchasing things. For example if you ran an extra workshop or did something extra to help out the organising team.* - The event schedule was on time for most of the hackathon. - I did not get the swag box from GitHub, It is (still) stuck in customs. I had to use another swag box I got for another event. Currently waiting for swag box to clear from customs to use that one in the next event (it's a calculated risk given event is in 2 weeks after this one) - The volunteers had no idea on their tasks on Day 1 CheckIn, so I and @karitkey jumped in immediately to delegate work to them before Check In started, helping with check in ourselves. Setting up Wifi, taking out the trash and serving food throughout hackathon. - Understanding it was first time for lead organizer to host an event this big, I constantly mentored them and made them practice Run of Show. - @carrycooldude brought his [OpInCo](https://mobile.twitter.com/opincocommunity) team all the way from Chhatisgarh which significantly boosted volunteer hands and experience in the event. ## Positives :+1: *The good bits - A bullet point list is effective here* - Healthy attendance, homogenous crowd, lots of first-time coders - Great workshops (40% of hackers used tools presented in workshops) - Every team submitting at least one project (some more than one!) - Hackers want CodeDay to happen again - A fast learning events team - [Vedant](https://mobile.twitter.com/vedantstwt) (An Onboarding GCE) has done a great job organizing logistics and high-quality food. ## Negatives :-1: *The not-so-good bits - A bullet point list is effective here* - Team delegation by the lead organizers - Wifi connectivity - The GCEs (I and @carrycooldude ) and OpInCo volunteers were able to tackle most of the hackathon hurdles (due to our previous experience) the events team could use more organizing experience - Food moderation, tokens could be used to avoid multiple servings (was used on Day 2) - The budget looks bit higher for a small-scale hackathon. ## Feedback from Attendees :speech_balloon: *Feel free to use quotes, lists, screenshots - whatever makes it easiest to share the info (please make sure you have permission to use a person's comments).* *Tell us how you got the feedback too - was it done during the event at the end, comments made on social media/community channels or did you put out any formal feedback forms etc.?* ## Social Media Drop *Include links here to any posts about the event & your involvement* - [Instagram](https://instagram.com/codeday_nagpur) - [Twitter](https://twitter.com/codedeay_nagpur) ## Photos [Google Photos Album](https://photos.app.goo.gl/MenJR1UpUoyXxUxU6) ![](https://i.imgur.com/Inn31jy.jpg) ## Summary :thought_balloon: *Use this section to give your personal overview of the event and how this went for you as a Campus Expert. Would you attend again? Did people talk to you about the program? What kind of vibes did you get for the community?* CodeDays are great to help get creative high school students get started with code. The venue and organizing team looks promising to host more iterations of CodeDay. The organizers could use some more training to get better at it. The team has great sync, empathy, and communication among themselves. The hackers learnt a lot and made some pretty cool projects this CodeDay! Here's I, @carrycooldude and [Dheeraj](https://mobile.twitter.com/dheeraj_7_) taking care of logistics like cool kidz <img src="https://i.imgur.com/r6DLoNq.jpg" width=50%>
