AI 2. __Specialized processessing units__, GPU, TPU, DPU, field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) 3. __Flexibility__ (on-prem, cloud, edge) 4. HPCaaS (& IaaS) (Azure, AWS, GCP, Oracle Cloud (Open Clouds for Research Environments (OCRE)) 5. Hybrid solutions 6. __Democratisation__ - more widespread access to HPC and the positioning of the technology within reach of more end users. 7. Exascale computing __Technological Maturity in HPC__ _a process of global diversification and local specialization_ Mature state-indicators of HPC * decision-making is easily integrated with HPC * comprehensive and automated access * HPC architecture does not constrain decision making * anticipates out-of-date systems and considers them in decision making * applications are not detemined by technology Maturity talks Cutting Edge * AMD accelerators LUMI, The GPU partition will consist of 2560 nodes, each node with one 64 core AMD Trento CPU and _four AMD MI250X GPUs_ - Thomas Schöder (transfer) - Lumi sys-admin * HPC support - * HPC front office management - https://deic-frontoffice.dtu.dk/ --- HPC maturity from traditional HPC (specialization) * Søren Brunak (KU & DTU) - frustration * Peter Langen (AU Tech, climate models. Arctic phenomena and how global climate changes are manifested in Denmark) * Women in HPC: * Dorte Hammershøi * Lottie Greenwood (admin) * Sonia Coriani (chemistry) * Kaare Lehmann Nielsen (genomics) - he could talk about maturation --- New users (diversity index) * Søren Dinesen Østergaard, EPJ & maskinlæring (Psych, Aarhus) * Kenneth Enevoldsen, Danish Foundation Models * noisy neighbours --- Vocabulary: _Edge computing_ refers to computing done at the location closest to a system’s data or its end user—where information is coming from or going to. Edge architecture allows processing to occur more quickly by reducing latency and lag. Applications and programs running at the edge are able to work more quickly and efficiently, resulting in a better user experience and improved overall performance.
